New Stadium and Training Ground - Pg 104 Northumberland Park master plan

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

http://www.24dash.com/news/housing/2012-10-12-New-Spurs-stadium-to-kick-off-major-homes-plan-for-Tottenham?

“Tottenham has a lot of fried chicken shops,” said Lippitt. “It’d be good if Tottenham had places like Costa Coffee.”

This Quote made me laugh :)

For all the Chic King fans!!!

56k mentioned.. no increase!

Haringey Council leader Claire Kober presented a selected audience at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club with Haringey Investment Potential. Invitees included Newlon Housing Group and Family Mosaic.

Kober said Spurs’ £400 million new 56,000-seater stadium would provide Tottenham with 300 new homes and 800 ‘match day’ jobs.

H'mm. Not sure we need take too much notice of this. Yes, she's Leader of the Council, but does that mean she'd necessarily be fully up-to-speed on the inner machinations of the club?

Re: New stadium and training ground thread - Pg 74 Haringey Council plans 2025

Yes, she's just giving a rounded number based on the approved plan. She's not saying the capacity has been decreased by 250 or that it won't be increased. Even if she did know about a new plan with an increase, she wouldn't mention it here.

Or

Kober said [journalist inserts some of their research] Spurs’ £400 million new 56,000-seater stadium [and here's the actual quote] "would provide Tottenham with 300 new homes and 800 ‘match day’ jobs".

Spurs hope to stay at White Hart Lane

Tottenham hope not to move far from White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur's preference is to remain in situ at White Hart Lane while their new stadium is being built adjacent to their old home - but they are also looking at options to groundshare at Wembley or the Olympic Stadium.

Spurs were once in fierce competition to land full usage of the Olympic Stadium, which they planned to demolish and start again from scratch, but are now exploring the possibility of renting it as a temporary home.

A Spurs boardroom source told ESPN on Sunday that the new ground can be built around, and to the north of, the current White Hart Lane stadium. However, the club is doing due diligence on all available options in case it impacts on the timescale and cost of the new stadium.

Spurs are already in contact with Wembley chiefs and are looking into the Olympic Stadium option - with West Ham United still keen to win the right to take possession of the home of London 2012, and with Leyton Orient still hoping to share with the Hammers.

Would be an absolute fudging shambles if we moved to Wembley even for 1/2 a season...

It really wouldn't.

If it would help us finish up our own stadium and allow us to have it ready for the start of a season, instead of the start of the next, it would be an intelligent move.

Dont know about you but seeing 85k yids pack out Wembley would be a beautiful sight

you're dreaming if you think we'll get anywhere near that for more than 2 games

It would be very useful for the club to see what kind of demand there is for tickets and what prices fans will pay. Kids are obviously the future and a West Ham style £1 charge may reap big dividends in the future.

Wembley offers far better corporate entertaining facilties than that Copernicus Crater of a stadium in Stratford.

It'd be a lot easier to get potential suite or club seat buyers in the right state of mind at Wembley.

Very good point.
The real dough is in the corporate facilities I understand.

There are strict limits on the number of football matches and events at Wembley. It would be virtually impossible to persuade Brent to relax the rules. The cost of doing so would probably make the plan unviable. A few games at the start of the season is another matter, allowing more time for the summer works.

So far this season we have had four PL games(Aug 25, Sept 1, Sept 23, Oct 7) and one cup games (Sept 20). Now the season started on Aug 18 and we only had one home game in the next month and four in the second month. Building works can over run so having a contingency plan is a must. A contractor will take account of any late penalties in the cost and proposed timing, so it might be cost effective to add a month or two to the summer allowing the demolition of the north stand, laying of the new pitch, and test events. A couple of games at Wembley, a couple elsewhere, and possibly switching/negotiating the PL schedule and they have five months instead of three for the summer works (mid-May to mid Oct instead of mid-Aug). That's a huge difference for the building schedule.
