Mental Health Discussion & Check-In Thread

I am on a low beta-blocker (12mg a day) am able to do cardio albeit not HiT style...which is suddenly fine at my age. Have to say, the beta-blocker has been really good for me.
Great advice re: taking a path with a proper doctor/professional.

I play over 35s league footy locally. It's super fast paced considering our age. And younger players do sneak in. I literally couldn't manage sprints without real breathlessness. So I've made the call. But it's not great on the other side. So back to GP

Yes, at the grand old age of (in March anyway) 59, I was advised to hang up my boots. How the football world will deal with losing my devastating skill, vision, pace and humble leadership remains to be seen!!! I'm adding cycling back in to cover the days I am not doing gym.

How are you feeling about it?

It confirms what I felt I already knew. Life has been challenging. But now I know why. I will have another session to see what support is available. But at least I now know and can find ways to manage it rather than always stumbling in the dark and bumping into everything.

I've never tried to get diagnosed for autism. I've got an anxiety disorder.

I'm too much of a prick to handle to conversations without telling them what I think they want to hear. It's what I've always worried about, it's why I struggle with therapy. At a point I'm not sure if I'm just catastrophising or telling them how I really feel.

My son told me a story just now, something from earlier this week. I normally wouldn't post anything he shares with me from his work, but this I think I will. There was a man on his ward who cut his own Achilles tendons to stop himself from buying booze. I'm not too sure how to process that, to be honest.

Incredibly sad. I think we are in an unprecedented era of mental health being pushed and stretched beyond boundaries...

Yes. We are in uncharted territory. That story floored me. So so sad.

There's more. My son had another story for me this week from the 'life is stranger than fiction' category. By some bizarre coincidence, three people on his ward had glass eyes. Three. THREE! His ward has nothing to do with eyes. WTF!!! One of them was a growler. Only communicates with growls.

Hmm....that's it, I think. I hear loads more weird brick, but I am totally betraying people's privacy. That's all I'm giving you. :kissingheart:
