Match ratings against villa

That is probably what he was thinking mate - that says it all for me. No gonad*s. If we were protecting a draw to see us third, great sub. Not when we needed a win.

Friedel - 6
Walker - 7
Gallas - 7
Kaboul -7
Rose - 5
Lennon - 6
Modric - 7
Bale - 7
Sandro - 8
VdV - 7
Adebayor - 7

I see the usual Bale hate is here for a bad result.
He and Ade were the only ones to hit shots on target.

You guys do realise we can still get third right. So whilst a win was needed its not the end of the world.

Absolutely fudging disgusted with that substitution. "Yeah,Kev,we need a goal, lets send on Scotty"

Now I rate Parker but wtf was that?

You do realise it was the 89th minute, right? And yet suddenly it's the season-defining mistake and reason to crucify Redknapp?

Absolutely ridiculous. Harry did try to win the game, and the way he tried to do it was with the 10 players - TEN of them - he had on the pitch because they were in total control of the game, are a team full of game-winners, rather than bringing on any of this lot:

23 Cudicini
33 Nelsen
08 Parker
29 Livermore
15 Saha
17 Giovani
18 Defoe

And yet apparantly it's reason to slaughter Harry because he didn't bring on Defoe (in the 89th minute), who people would just have complained about being offside all the time and of being selfish, and of being too short for our last minute hoofs. Or Saha, who people would have said is brick. Or Gio who is, actually, brick. Or Livermore, who is less experienced than Parker and might have done something silly.

Please, let's get a fudging grip here.

3rd was in the bag, we blew it. Arsenal handed us a chance to take it back, we blew it. Sorry if I'm not doing cartwheels.

It's not an egg-and-spoon race. Villa stopped us today with the help of a lucky goal, a rash challenge from a kid and some strong defending. It's not like Spurs were the only team on the pitch.

This is right, we were offered a gilt edged opportunity to claim third and we blew it, a second chance to claim third and we were simply not good enough to do it, after 38 games the table does not lie, been a good season though whatever happens.

I can fully understand the disappointment and frustration of us not taking the chance to go third, but some of these marks seem rather harsh.

Friedel - the only person who might have been able to save their goal is a fictional character that hails from Krypton?
Rose - the full-back position is a specialist one and as a winger, Danny is doing a reasonably good job?
Walker - if it is right that he received pain killing injections to help him play through a broken toe, it would explain the limping towards the end of the second half?
Gallas - like him, or loathe him the man is a winner and he hates to lose?
Bale - when Rose saw red, GB seemed to look after the entire left wing?
Modric - played an intelligent game and linked in well with Sandro?
Lennon - there were times when he was "in acres", but never used?
Adebayor - when we went down to ten men, his work rate was phenomenal - come on people; watch what players do when they do not have the ball?

Also, whilst I agree that Rose is not the best left back in the PL I have to say that he had an ok game by his standards up until the sending off. Walker on the other hand was shocking, absolutely shocking in the first half, he gave the ball away constantly and got caught out by his attacker on several occasions. The sending off even turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it opened up the game for us and as a result we owned the match after that, such a shame we didnÔÇÖt creat enough clear cut chances to finish them off.

He was playing with a broken toe. Its not his fault Redknapp sends everyone who is not first team out on loan.

is anybody here aware of the fact that we were 10 and not 11!?
VDV was huffing and puffing, could not go on.. he is not 100% fit and has not been this season.

Taking VDV off and putting Defoe on would have destroyed our midfield.

Also, Defoe NEVER tracks back, he would have been useless in a 10 men system

Sandro was awesome yet again and the MOM for me, Rose again showed he is not a LB and Parker instead of Defoe when we needed a goal, wrong Redknapp wrong .

Excellent post. Uncannily you said some of things I was chatting about on the way home

The best testament I could give the team today was that I read a Liverpool fan post that he had watched our game on a stream for 30mins before he realised it was Spurs down to 10 men and not Villa

Friedel - 6

Walker - 5 - very slow to get going, quite sloppy. Playing with a broken toe, right?
Gallas - 6
Kaboul - 6.5
Rose - 5 - unfortunate, but critical red card

Lennon - 7
Modric - 7.5
Sandro - 7.5
Bale - 7.5

VDV - 7
Ade - 6

Parker - 9 - Inspired, we instantly looked like scoring when he came on.

Thought VDV was our best player today. Modric was also superb. Other than that? Not brilliant, but not bad either. The exceptions being both full backs, but we won't get into that.....
