It doesn't backfire even then - He isn't the type of CB our manager wants, the only alternative is keeping here against both the player and manager's wishes. If he turns world class then we will get a nice amount like you say with the sell on, he can only turn world class playing which he wouldn't here.

Sometimes in football there isn't a right or wrong when it comes to getting rid of a player, we aren't selling him because we don't think he will be a good player- its just a good deal that makes sense for all parties involved....

I’m sure it will. I hate that it happened. But have to accept things happen that you don’t like and don’t want to happen.

At least at this point in his career it’s a good fee for an untested in the premier league player. And we have shown intention in spending to get our transfer targets completed so have to have faith that we are moving in the right direction even if this sale shouldn’t have happened.
 
Disappointing. While I didn't think he'd be PL ready immediately, he's got the potential to become really, really good. For him it's probably a very good move, as he'll surely get playing time and experience for Brighton that he wouldn't have gotten at Spurs.

Still wish we could've sent him out on loan again instead of selling him, despite the apparent clauses in the deal.

I hope he does well, but not too good.

Of course, but the lad is 18 and everyone acknowledged he needs time and future development. Things in isolation rarely mean much, I don't take much in Senesi not getting on the pitch rather than a near 40 year old CB, managers make their choices
 
I've not seen enough of him to make an accurate assessment, but I wonder if he'll work out like the highly rated De Ligt who had a big reputation at Ajax but his lack of pace has stalled his expectations.
 
Good luck to the guy, none of us really know how good he would/could become but he would not be the only player at that age has never lived up to expectaions. Wish him well.
 
Would have liked to see him develop here, but for every one that goes on to be top class another 10 end up being average at best. How many have we seen hyped up in our own academy that never reach the heights we all hoped for? 50m is hard to turn down when such a big rebuild is needed and going on, so can understand it.
 
The bitter part of my mind thinks he won't ever cope with the pace of the league. The objective part thinks we might make £10m more in three years when he moves to Real Madrid.

Best of luck kid, I hope you're being well advised, as Brighton is a step down to try to then step up.
