January transfer rumour thread

Ii have to say though, what that does is it puts chelsea in the driving seat...not tottenham.

Its possible they could finish outside the Top 4, I wonder if that would change his mind. Also his comments about wanting to play and seeing his mate Lukaku rotting on the bench even though Torres cannot score in a brothel has to sway him some.

All im saying is, that he had not need to say that comment about going somwhere where he will play and play good football.

We don't have a set pattern. The players drift around to find space. We do like to attack down the wings.

From my perspective we line up as 4-4-1-1 mostly but settled down to play 4-5-1 with alot of possession within the "dynamic 5".

anyone concerned at how Gervinho was ripping it up for Lille in the French league over the last couple of years and now looks kinda lost in the Premiership playing for a club that most suits his style

does Hazard look amazing in an average league?

POTL's Jan round-up:

Coysers,

Following on from the many messages i have received and the speculation on the board over incomings and outgoings, am going to give you a short debrief of the window.

Targets- Yellow, Remy, Samba, Cahill.
Incomings- Nelson, Saha.
Outgoings- Corluka, Bassong, Pav, Pienaar, Smith, Townsend, Bostock

In terms of targets, we had made 2 bids for Remy, he was a big target for us in the window the last and final bid we made was at 18m. We were close to agreeing the fee, but after Remy scored under the eye of Harry, the fee was raised significantly and we were not prepared to pay the inflated price in January, the summer will leave more room for negotiation and when we know our final finishing position, this will enable us to know financially what we are capable of doing and obviously with CL football allows us to attract a different calibre of player. Cahill went to Chelsea for the money, huge signing on fee and outrageous wages.

Deadline day we were in for Krasic after it became apparant that he was available, this fell apart late on after the player decided he didnt want to come on loan and wanted a permanant deal. Pav went back to Moscow for a fee rising to 9 million, which is quite incredible business- the player had to go, his head had gone which was evident in the performances he has shown recently and he ultimately wasn't happy sitting on the bench. Saha only had 6 months to run at Everton and became an ideal solution for us- proven in the top flight and will fill the 3rd striker slot up until the summer where we can really go for our top targets- Remy and Yellow. The latter being the main one- hoping we can get this tied up before the summer similar to the Luka agreement when he signed.

Charlie really wanted to play football to make sure he would be able to go to the Euro's in the summer, situation will be assessed when he returns in the summer. Bassong a similar situation- needs to play football and was very down- best thing for the lad is to go and play, he is behind King, Kaboul, Dawson and Gallas. Similarly the Nelson signing is just to provide cover and will be a good wise head in the dressing room. Samba wanted to make the move to WHL, we thought we were close but Blackburn couln't get a centre half in and Bassong didn't want to go on loan- this could be revisited in the summer.

Pienaar has gone on loan, was desperate to play and with Hudd coming back in the next few weeks was felt that with him back to cover in CM, and Rose being able to play LM- he was allowed to go last minute. The Gio story is a long winded one, all was agreed for him to go- last minute was revealed Villareal couldn't pay the fee- hence him still being here- wouldn't be surprised to see him go on loan in the next week when the loan window opens.

It has been a quiet window, but I think we have done well- Saha and Nelson give us good experience going in to the run in and fill gaps until the summer when the situation can be reassessed. We have got great money for Pav, and a number of youngsters will go and gain vital senior playing experience, with other senior players getting minutes under their belts.

Am sure have missed bits and pieces- so apologies. Will correct or answer anything that is glaringly obvious.

Enjoy the rest of the season, and don't believe everything you read in the media!!

That is an excellent round up of everything that either Harry, Bond, the OS, Marseille's chairman or newspapers has already explained. You da man POTL. Even the wide eyed super awesome Spurs community posters don't listen to what you say anymore

Don't believe everything you read in the media he says. Where does that leave us with your rehash POTL?

very good point to make but dont worry, there is a reason gervinho went for the little money and hazard is looking like leaving for 35 million.

What time did he come out with it?

Monday night he said a striker coming in from left field, wouldn't say who but said he hadn't been mentioned before and was surprised when he was told. Tuesday morning he said Nelsen coming in, Bassong going to Wolves on loan and that Pienaar was staying - ok so he was wrong on Pienaar but Harry did say he went last minute and jjetset's info was from the morning.

I think with any player though coming from a Different league you have to give them a season to adjust and then judge them. There are tons of examples of players coming from other leagues and just taking a little while to get used to the speed of the prem, and the amount of Physicality that is allowed.

If I didn't know better, he could be Jamie Redknapp.

iirc Gervinho was into the last year of his contract and thats why he cost around 10 mill

anyway the price put on the head of a player is never a true indication about the players ability. Gervinho had a huge impact on Lille and in Ligue 1 and was as effective as is Hazard in the same team/system/league. So disregarding price, if Gervinho has failed to hit the same heights here in England it could be that Hazard might struggle too.

dont forget that many clubs were after Gervinho, Spurs and Emirates Marketing Project included, its only because of his huge desire to join the Arse that other clubs eventually pulled out. He greatly impressed many observers of French football
