January transfer rumour thread

An eye tee kay that actually called stuff right last transfer window.

By calling things right you mean he stated that we wouldn't be making any major signings in Jan?

I predicted that the Queen wasn't going to come out as a militant lesbian anarchist and that the Sun wouldn't implode and wouldn't create a black hole that would suck us all in and end the world. Not sure it's really worthy of a mention though.

He actually came out with Saha and Nelsen long before the media latched on to things.

Also the Bassong and Pienaar loans.

Just watched some you tube vids of Hazard, don't even want to get my hopes up until I see him in a spurs shirt, would be an amazing buy. He looks top drawer

Hazard will cost 25 million plus

good player but that is some pricetag to live up to

we dont need him, our midlfield is pretty sorted. All our money needs to go towards the forward line. Saha may well be our only striker on the books come summertime

Mancini confirms Hazard interest

City boss aware ?ú30m-rated Belgian star has 'enormous' talent

Last Updated: February 3, 2012 9:17am

Emirates Marketing Project manager Roberto Mancini could be considering a summer move for Eden Hazard after admitting his admiration of the Lille star.

The ?ú30million-rated Belgian playmaker has long been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea and he recently admitted he would relish an eventual move to the Premier League.

Chelsea appear to be paying closest attention to Hazard after scouts watched the playmaker a remarkable 20 times in the last 18 months, but City could be prepared to battle for a deal.

Mancini has confirmed his interest in the 21-year-old, who has also been linked with Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Paris Saint Germain, and is aware of his potential.

"Hazard has an enormous level of talent and is able to play at the maximum level," the City boss is quoted as telling Le 10 Sport

"But we know there is interest from the big European clubs and any deal will not be easy."

French scout Guy Hillion has no doubts Hazard could succeed in England, as he said: "I was at the Lille-St Etienne match and the player has interested Chelsea since Frank Arnesen was at the club.

"Personally, my reports have been excellent and I do think he can succeed in the Premier League."

Not sure if Emirates Marketing Project can afford him, aren't they trying to lower their wage bill/spending?

Well that effectively ends any hopes we had

well technically we dont need xavi, iniesta, silva or yaya toure but i think it would be immensely misguided to think that they wouldnt add significantly to our team and the results

hazard is a difference maker i think. or at the very least a significant contributor to the difference makers.

if we sat here waiting for players that we need at crazy prices then we would be pretty stagnant. not a bad thing if we have a good team but at least lets push on

also 25 million? we'd be lucky....with the amount of interest its got to be upward of 30 easy.

I honestly am not so sure. i think hazard is looking at making a big name for himself, as well as carving out an area of the world that he can call his own. it seems like he actually wants to be recognised name. if all these reports about the talk is accurate that is.

which would mean that he wants to actually play regularly , plsu if he moves to england why not move to london?

i have to say though, what that does is it puts chelsea in the driving seat...not tottenham.

so how would you deploy Hazard with the players we currently have

It is supposed to be a squad game. Even with Redknapp in charge it doesn't hurt to have more than 10 players of top quality.

and Redknapp loves 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1

I think Hazard would be an immense signing for us, however he would be better integrated if a Mourinho or Mancini were manager

i find that very, whats the word, Televisiony? mourinho and mancini dont do anything miraculous as far as getting the best out of players. they are just BIG name managers due to the clubs they've managed

hazard plays in a 433 but the kid has to defend just like anyone else...in which case he can play in lennon's position.

if hazard could only really operate well in one formation i dont think the hype would be this big.

you are right though, formations are important to the output of players but i'm going to go with my gut and say that he can play in a 433, wide of a 4411, in the hole, or in a 451 if you ask him to
