ITK Thread

I'm pretty sure we'll get one Mitchell player at least, hopefully it fills a wanting skill gap and not just a value buy

Ings on a free with a tribunal deciding his fee plus Benteke as an example would be a good summers work for the front line imo. Just have to rid of Adebayor then as I would keep Soldado unless we got a reasonable offer for him

Heard some stuff:

1. We have just added to Mitchell's staff, taken a guy from Leicester who specialises in French football and helped bring the Algerian winger (Marques?) and Knockaheart (spelling) to Leicester
2. Before we bought Lamela, we never did a single scouting report on the lad, was bought completely on Baldini's say so.
3. Our opposition scouting and analysis is very very poor and something we are working hard to improve.

:)

I find this a bit odd. Basically because it's what AVB first made is name doing, and he appointed his own prodigy (Daniel Sousa, who also worked at Chelsea in that role) to that position for us. So therefore we were leading the field in this just 13 months ago. Did they really wipe the harddrives when they left?

Similarly Commoli was supposed to be famed for his extensive scouting dossiers/library. Did Redknapp just use his files fuel his office fire through the winter, or did Commoli sneak them home the night he got fired?

Basically I'm wondering whether the club or the individual owns the materials like this. I'd imagine theoretically the former, but in practice it's the latter's portfolio and would tend to disappear with them.

i thought i saw a soton video whare mitchell's moneyball department was staffed with like 6 youths watching videos all day long ?

now surely that's an excellent target for an ITK source ?

I've heard just as many accounts of him being a chancer who talks a good game. Wenger rarely talks rudely about past employees but he has been very derogatory about Commoli. I doubt that anyone that AVB brought in would have been there long enough to build up much of a record. Besides, the important thing will be to build up the teams working in this within the club. Scouting players and opposition needs to be current, Sousa's reports from a year ago are not going to be much use now.

well since Commoli left Arsenal Wengers transfer record has taken a bit of a nosedive, no wonder he talks derogatorily about him :p

"I let you write what you want about Comolli," Wenger said in November 2010, with scarcely concealed disgust. "He was a scout here and not a director of football. He worked under Steve Rowley [the chief scout]. That is it. Only one person decides who comes in here and that is me. Nobody else."

sounds like he was more annoyed that people were implying he was the one making the signings rather than his actual ability?

I know for a fact we have sent scouts to watch Strum Graz forward- Marco Djuricin. Apparently 4 times this season.

Wow. Can that be true? He was brought in to replace Robert Beric who went to Rapid. He's had a solid first half of the season, but blimey. That would be one hell of a (cheap) gamble.

Sending scouts somewhere doesn't mean we're about to make a bid. We, like many other clubs, will be tracking dozens of players.
