Pretty sure that no armchair manager in the country would set England up in this shape. Out of position players, not to mention a very obviously out of form one.
 
Does this England team have a plan at all? Certainly doesn't look like it. They don't press, and don't sit back to play on the counter, there is no pattern in the passing, and when they eventually get the ball forward, no one from midfield joins in the attack!
Seems like the only plan is for one of the players to come up with something brilliant or a worldie from distance.

It’s Southgate, he is a properly average manager who is in over his head.
 
Southgate should lose his job if England get relegated from the Nations League. Team look like no direction, have a good squad and going nowhere. Yes, his Tournament results have been good but mostly through luck rather than skill as this Tournament has shown.

This is too true. No skeletons seem to be in his closet. Not going to make a fuss or act to cause controversy. Keeps his head down and appears on the face of it to have done well as manager. Im just not convinced he actually has achieved all that it appears due to luck with tournament draws. Found wanting against the good teams too often.

If it was he would have been gone after losing 4-0 v Hungary. Embarrassing how we have the better squad and yet they are managed so much better. They are more than the sum of their parts…

Added on top he doesn't seem to know his best 11 or even the formation he wants to play. The only consistent thing about the team is playing Maguire and Shaw no matter how brick they are.
