Lead singer of LostProphets, not the bloke from Steps.

Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been charged with child sex offences, police have said.

The Welsh rock star is set to appear before magistrates later today following his arrest as part of a continuing investigation.

A spokesman said: “A Pontypridd man has been charged with sexual offences against children and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates' Court today.

”The 35-year-old has been charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.

“In order to assist their investigation, South Wales Police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets.”

Police added that two women, aged 20 and 24 and from Doncaster and Bedford respectively, have been charged with “similar offences” and will also appear in court. All three were questioned at Cardiff Bay police station.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Peter Doyle said specially-trained staff were available to speak to anyone with concerns or information regarding this investigation.

“I want to encourage anyone who has any concerns or information which they think may be relevant to contact us,” he added.

“Safeguarding children involved in such cases is always a high priority and as such measures have already been taken.”

Police are asking anyone with any information concerning the investigation to contact the Operation Globe incident room on 0800 056 0154, or the NSPCC on 0800 389 5347.

Lethal injection time i think. To do something that fudged up means you are beyond help in my opinon, i have to be honest i had never heard of him before wish i had never heard of him full stop.

All kiddy porn is wrong but to try to rape a 1 year old????? the is no way that is something that can be dimissed and i do not believe you can come back from something like that. Death is the only answer and that is not me joking or playing up to a right wing image. But honestly if someone even for a second thinks they can do something like that they do not deserve the right to breath.

There is a serious point in there.

People who are like that are turned on by children, I assume in the way I'm turned on by slim brunettes with big tits. If society decides that taste is wrong, I'd like to think I'd have the mental strength not to act on it. That wouldn't stop it turning me on though.

How exactly do you rehabilitate sexual preference out of someone?

Was a picture circulating the Internet couple years ago of him noshing off some bloke he pretty much admitted it was real to one of the papers think there's always been a few 'rumours' doing the rounds about him utter wrongun by sounds of it if these latest allegations or should I say charges are true
 
Does this mean Kerry Kuntona is gonna say he touched her too like she did when Saville was news. That waiste of oxygen has got bills to pay after all and a slot on Jeremy Kyle Xmas special will hardly cover them

Nothing's changed. I'm always mildly surprised by how shocked everyone seems to be when someone famous is outed as a paedophile. 'ANOTHER Paedo uncovered!' the papers cry. 'What's become of this country?' the commentators wail. And ordinary people are just filled with despair at the never-ending line of abusers being paraded by the media.

Throughout human history, there have always been paedophiles. From the pederasty of the Spartans to the Victorian gentleman whose purchase of a young girl's virginity shocked the nation when it was first reported in the late 19th century, to the repeated abuses of children sent to boarding houses during the Blitz, and right down to the outrages of Gary Glitter, Jimmy Savile and now apparently this bloke, of whom I've never heard, paedophiles have always been present. I'd wager that they always will be. In that regard, nothing has changed.

What's changed, however, is society. For 10,000 years of civilization, child abuse was an accepted part of any society. Different degrees of acceptance, but accepted nonetheless. Almost every ancient culture condoned it. Most medieval cultures accepted it. Most enlightenment-era societies saw it as just another misdemeanour, at most. And the Christian Catholic Church, the supposed shepherds of a billion souls...don't get me started on how long these guardians of morality have abused their youngest ,most helpless charges. It is only now that we're forced to confront the true tragedy of what happens to a young child's mind, to their lives, when these acts are carried out. Only now that we see it for the atrocity that it is. It is only in the last fifty to sixty years that society has truly grown to accept that child abuse is wrong. And it is only in the last twenty to thirty years that the media and the investigative authorities have grown bold enough to start chasing these stories. And it is only in the last ten to fifteen years that prosecutions for child abuse have gone into full swing.

The point is, the recognition of the inherent inhumanity of child abuse is a very, very recent thing. We were, are, and will be a species capable of terrible acts to our fellow human beings. Changing that will take a long, long time, especially when you are confronting something that has been around for the length of time that child abuse has been. So I'm always surprised at the number of people shocked by the recent spate of child-hunting savages being uncovered by the media and the police.

This is the tip of the iceberg. There are far, far more perpetrators of abuse, and many of them will be famous personages hiding behind their grandeur. So we shouldn't really be shocked when more and more of them are uncovered. What we should be is grateful; grateful that we live in a society that sets at least the safety of our children beyond any compromise, and grateful that we have a media and a judiciary that will actively seek out the many, many people who do think they can get away with ignoring that iron precept.

Because it hasn't always been this way.

As an addendum, there will always be utterly vile people who jump on the bandwagon to attract public sympathy. And by doing this, they directly cause the public to question the victim's motivations, when someone who genuinely was abused comes out and says it. And that's the real fudging tragedy. These people are the people who should be attracting at least as much ire as the real paedos, imo.

There's even paedophiles on this board. Those who say "if there's grass on the pitch play on" or similar, or those who like the "sexy schoolgirl" look need to take a close look at themselves I'd say.

Mick used to go one step further than me and suggest that those who like a buffed mons veneris did so because of its' similarity to a prepubescent girl's.
