Gareth Bale

Re: Gareth Bale

Is anyone else incredibly bored by this whole situation?

Getting there. Can't wait for September 2nd, TBH. At least then we'll probably get a good months rest before the stories of Bale's imminent January exit starts to come out from anonymous sources.

If he stays, of course.

Re: Gareth Bale

No, I find it facinating. Funny thing is that people are saying if we sell Bale then other players we might see as replacements might not want to join us. I think that's gonads. If anything we're developing a reputation of really developing players well and allowing them to fulfil their potential.

Michael Carrick. Went from "the other West Ham academy product that nobody was interested in when they were relegated" to having the best career of them all bar Lampard/Ferdinand at Man Utd. Because of Spurs.
Dimitar Berbatov. Went from bit-part player in the German League to world class beast and got a move to Man Utd. Because of Spurs.
Luka Modric. Went from Croatian play-maker of potential to galactico> because of Spurs.
Gareth Bale... well the story continues. We've certainly been very very good for him (as he has for us) and he knows that. There is still a mutual appreciation and there will be hopefully even after this is all finished and whatever happens.

Re: Gareth Bale

not sure if it means anything but the official Spurs twitter page has removed the Bale background...

edit: may have been like this for ages though can't say I've checked...

Re: Gareth Bale

It is going to be so so important to give them a deadline.

It's all well and good saying we want X amount or no sale but who's to say Madrid won't bide their time and then pay up on the final day just to fudge us over.

WE NEED TO GIVE THEM OUR DEADLINE!!

Re: Gareth Bale

Does anyone think there could be a public lynching of an agent if the behaviour of players continue to spiral with so much lack of respect. For example.. a group of drunk Tottenham fans on a night out.. see Jonathan Barnett in a high end restaurant in London.. what would happen? Are agents treading a fine line between respect and disrespect.

Got to say if I saw Mr Barnett in the street I'm not sure how I would react tbh.

It's indicative of the path modern football has taken that we not only know the name of Bale's agent, but many would be able to identify him in public. I hope Bale doesn't go, I would be devestated if he did, but I can understand why his agent would try and generate a move to Madrid.

In reality an agent has no loyalty to a club, and has no reason why they should

If we were to give a deadline, it would completely contradict what AVB has stated in public about him not being for sale. That should be the end of IT, and for all we know Madrid have ended interest to maintain the relationship with Spurs. However, the media need to fill headlines, and generate people going to their websites, thus we have the torrent of horse brick being sprouted in the press

I hope you are right.

Re: Gareth Bale

Surely they must run out of managers/players/pundits to interview about Bale's future now? I mean, the Stoke manager?!

Nope, they asked Sam Warburton this morning. That's Sam Warburton the RUGBY PLAYER :ross:

I'm just dying to hear Robbie Savage's expert opinion by the way and won't comment further until he offers his analysis.

I would rather have Scary Spice give her opinion.....or Ronnie Corbett.

Sam Warburton is a big mate of Bale, known each other since they were kids

The day after he was announced as Lions captain....
Sam Warburton expects Whitchurch High School to be beaming with pride after he and his former school mate Gareth Bale enjoyed a momentous 48 hours.

Warburton was yesterday named captain of the British and Irish Lions for their summer tour of Hong Kong and Australia.

The announcement came less than two days after his former school-mate Bale, who also attended Whitchurch in Cardiff, scooped the PFA’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards at a ceremony in central London.

Being a Tottenham fan, Warburton was delighted to see his compatriot win the double award.

The Cardiff Blues flanker said: “It’s great for Whitchurch. It is great to see Gareth doing so well.

“To see him playing for my favourite club and be doing so well. He has taken to the world stage.

Re: Gareth Bale

I wonder what Bale's young daughter thinks of all this. Please, Media, enlighten me.

Re: Gareth Bale

Reading between the lines here I see it as we don't want to sell but make us a silly offer with cash up front and you can have him. Madrid don't want to pay that silly cash because it's too high and they can't raise it in the current climate so they want to lower it with their shifty tactics but we are having none of it so it's at stalemate. Real have to do something because of the politics so they may get desperate and cave in to our demands if they can raise the finance.
