Of course, that goes without saying. I was referencing the build project in my post though - widely seen as an incredible achievement delivering what they did in that timescale.


I've worked with Mace on a couple of projects and having them as a management team only probably saved the project a great deal in terms of cost & time if what I've seen of them is any kind of marker. I seem to remember at the time the talk was that no construction company wanted to take it on as a complete package due to the logistics and timescale vs the penalties, which is why we went with the approach we did.

If HS2 had had that scale of delays, trains would have been rocking into New Street and Piccadilly years ago.

A project of that size will have hundreds of fudge ups. It’s unavoidable.
