Conor Gallagher

Some places saying £25m upfront with the rest as add ons. I think this is a good signing, young but still has a decent level of experience and has played in the PL and CL etc. Don't forget he was Chelsea captain for a bit as well - will definitely add some energy and leadership to our midfield.
Also:
"In the 2023/24 season, Gallagher created 53 chances for his Chelsea team-mates, the tenth highest on the Premier League list of midfielders with most above being more attacking midfielders."

Nice I didn't have him down as a creative player, more a hard working box to box player a bit like Henderson. Over 20 caps for England as well. The more I think about it the more this signing makes sense and likely means we can let Biss and Bents go either now or in the summer.

You enjoy Spurs losing games?

Haha personally I just think Bergvall has more potential and would like to see him getting more gametime at CM, especially as this season is a write-off in the league anyway.

As I say though, hopefully Gallagher will show he's levels above and will make me eat my words!

We're 6 points off 5th, not sure I can get on board with this season being a write off just yet!

I woudn't pay loads of attention to that stat personally - it doesn't scale based on gametime (and Gallagher had PL 37 starts that season), and 'chances created' just means a pass leading to a shot.

Personally I like FBref for stats - here's his stats per 90 mins for that season compared to other central midfielders, with Expected Assists and Progressive Passes highighted. In the 60-70th percentiles - not bad, but not outstanding.

IF..we could get 6pts from the next 2 games, things might just a lot rosier. Add maybe 2 more signings with Solanke and Udgoie returning to full fitness, then see what the tough run in February brings

1st week in March we could be eyeing up a EL spot, or quite easily fearing a relegation battle with West Ham, Forest and Burnley.

Sadly with Spurs you just know which way its going to go

Bergvall's level is a long way behind Gallagher's at the moment. I'd actually like Bergvall to go away and play on loan somewhere to continue his development. He is poor positionally and makes it hard for the rest of our team.

I have always wondered what it is that those who don't like him actually watch? Gallagher has everything required of a good central midfield player, mobile, good on the ball, creative, brave, works hard, great stamina, takes responsibility, plays for the team.

I don't see how anyone could think that he isn't an upgrade on every player in our midfield. Gallagher gets a starting place for us when everyone is fit and available, this is a great signing.

I think it is because he does all those things but will also mis-control a pass or shin it out of play, so if you are a positive person you see all the good outweighs the bad, but if you are a purist you see the bad and think "Jeez, really".
