Chelsea match ratings ***Results In***

Re: Chelsea match ratings

6's and 7's for the team, 5 for the subs. 7 For Sherwood. We were the better side until the slip and dodgy penalty.

You can't blame anyone to be honest as the game plan worked up until the first goal.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Gonna give it to Naughton, probably the only time he'll have a reasonable claim for it.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Watch Vertonghen **** off because we don't get top 4 even though he's partly responsible for us getting beat today.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Lloris 6.5

Walker 7
Dawson 6
Kaboul 6.5 thought it was unfair on the sending off.
Verts 5 did well up to the slip then his head dropped, if he does that at barca next season they will drop him.

Naughton 6.5
Sandro 7
Bentelab 6.5
Lennon 6
Siggy 5 Never really lived up to his potential.

Ade 6 not enough service but he has a good attitude unlike last season, I like him.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Naughton produced an assured display today, the only one I'd say had a good game. Thought Ade battled well considering the service he had...

Re: Chelsea match ratings

it was a good team performance until the goal, with no stand out performances as such. after the goal it was a collective capitulation.

7's for first 55 minutes
3's there after

8 for Sherwood. not his fault the players are bottle jobs and always have a moment of weakness in them.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Lloris - 4. Not his fault, but he walked off having conceded four, two of which went through his legs. Not exactly blameless.

Naughton - 6. Did little wrong. MOTM for the first time in his Spurs career to date.
Daws - 3.5. You play him against Hazard, Eto'o, Oscar and co., and you're going to have a bad time. Slow and sloppy with his short passing, but not totally awful.
Kaboul - 3. Was coolly tying his laces when Jan was desperately searching for passing options to his left in the build-up to the first goal. Unforgivable.
Verts - 3.5. Unfortunate slip, but was shaky throughout regardless.

Walker - 3. Did well first half ,went to **** in the second. Blaming his team-mates for his own stupendous error was the icing on the cake of failure today.
Bentaleb - 4.5. Acquitted himself decently (some sloppy passes), but has a lot to learn yet.
Sandro - 4.5. Tried his heart out, was let down by his rustiness and his mentally-useless team-mates.
Siggy - 5. I think I saw him touch the ball twice in ninety minutes.

Lennon - 4.5. Wasn't great in the free role, but pressed well enough for the first forty-five.

Ade - 5. Did little of note, but didn't **** up either, so neutral score seems about right.

Subs:

Paulinho - N/A. Game was out beyond our reach he came on.
Fryers - N/A. See above.

Tim - 7. His unusual team selection worked very well in the first half. What happened after that was not his fault, and he shouldn't be blamed for this.

Special mentions:

Daniel Levy - Apart from the players, there really isn't a totem pole that I can rage against at the club. But I can't help but feel that somehow, he deserves more blame for the state we're in. Not sure how, but he does.
Franco Baldini - not one of his seven signings started today. Not sure what that says about his performance so far.
Away fans - made the best of a bad situation. Heard them throughout the first 80-odd minutes, which is very decent as far as our support this season is concerned. Well done.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Lloris 6 - decent keeping despite conceding four, but his woeful distribution almost made him Chelsea's twelth man

Naughton 6 - did well at the back but offered sfa going forward

Dawson 6 - got away with it early on otherwise his usual game putting out fires and sending out diagonal hoofs, a few of which were half decent tbf

Kaboul 5 - went awol still tying his boots for the Verthongen clanger and was made to look naive by Eto'os cunning fall despite minimal contact in the box

Verts 4 - gratuitous over-elaboration backfired disastrously to start the rot

Walker 5 - throwing him forward was never going to work, he just hasn't got the craft for that, but wtf was that 30-yard headed back-pass?

Bentaleb 7 - looked our best hope of creating something after that early c**k-up, faded late on

Sandro 7 - heartening to see him stamping his authority in the middle but he was fortunate not to have been s/o late on

Siggy 4 - why bring him straight back into the starting eleven after such a long lay-off?

Lennon 5 - decent first half but invisible most of the second

Ade 6 - another who tended to over-elaborate

Subs

Paulinho 4 - gave us nothing

Fryers 4 - got away with some sloppy play

Sherwood 2 - you have to admire his boldness but he got it wrong big-time: throwing Walker forward was never going to work in a month of Sundays, Verthonghen is not a LB and Siggy was always going to be too rusty to start in such a critical game

He's playing like he doesn't give a ****.

The good thing is i don't actually think losing him will harm us much. We can also get quite a lot of £££££ for him so it would be best to cash in imo.

Pretty much agree with these. Pauli 3 though. Great through ball to Lennon and then just stood and watched rather than bust a gut to get in the area. Saw him watch a player run past him and not track him. Appalling for someone supposedly fresh. When will he find third gear?

Re: Chelsea match ratings

I'd rate the team far far higher. I thought they put in a lot of effort and bar the constant defensive problems, we outplayed Chelsea, kept possession well and created some chances.

TS has them setup to be more adventurous at the expense of defending sometimes, and we get away with it, as we did today for about an hour.

5 or 6s all round.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Lloris - 4 - Not the assurred keeper you need for a top 4 defence. Overrated masdively.
Naughton - 6 - MOTM - assurred display and hes looked good in recent weeks
Kaboul - 4 - rusty
Daws - 4 -out of his depth against top quality again
Verts - 3 - sloppy pathetic display
Walker - 4 - hes not a midfielder
Sandro - 5 - rusty but tried hard
Bentaleb - 5 - lacked support the kid looked overwhelmed second half as the experienced heads around him went missing
Sig - 3 - was he even there?
Lennon - 5 - hes not a second striker or a play maker is he so why play him as one?
Ade - 5 - put a shift in at least

Re: Chelsea match ratings

LLORIS: 5 - partly to blame for at least two goals today and no redeeming saves. Poor.

NAUGHTON: 7 - didn't set the world alight but defended well throughout. Our MOTM.
DAWSON: 6 - not great on the ball and breached a few times but not awful.
KABOUL: 5 - fell for the Eto'o feign and it cost him and us greatly.
VERTONGHEN: 3 - such a horrific attitude. Hurry up and go!

WALKER: 5 - unfamiliar position, did an okay job for the first hour then struggled. Dreadful header for their fourth goal.
SANDRO: 6 - alright, gives away far too many fouls though and isn't great positionally for a defensive midfielder. Bad error for Chelsea's third goal, too.
BENTALEB: 5 - ran around like a headless chicken for the most part.
SIGURDSSON: 5 - bare ineffective. The master at hiding from games.

LENNON: 5 - put in a shift first half then seemed to throw in the towel thereafter. Poor end product once again.

ADEBAYOR: 6 - lead the line well enough, received very little service though.

PAULINHO: 4 - invisible.
FRYERS: 5 - meh.

SHERWOOD: 7 - set the team up well to combat them, looked a nailed on 0-0 draw til his players let him down. One of his better days tactically, showed he can be willing to think outside the box and it's nice to see he cares.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Nah, sooner or later we'd have lost 1-0. And then we'd have tried to come out of the game with some credit. But Chelsea would have thought 'job done'. And without Bale, we really have nobody to alter that. A bunch of mates collecting a cheque. Sherwood doesn't have Bale, and it shows.

Re: Chelsea match ratings

Lloris - 5

Naughton - 7
Dawson - 6
Kaboul - 6
Vert' - 4

Walker - 5
Sandro - 6
Bentaleb - 6
Sig - 4

Lennon - 5
Ade - 6

Re: Chelsea match ratings

3 - sherwood for a crazy gamble that unsettled the team, and made the players look bad. Then had the cheek to come out to criticize them!

can't judge the players under a new system of play against the league leaders.

Until Vertonghen's Cruyff attempt we were well on top. Sherwood's plan/formation was working perfectly well.
