I don't think matches in that competition count much for the coefficient, I might be wrong though.

EL & CL matches count the same, the difference is the bonus points CL teams get for being in the group stage and for progressing to the knockout rounds.
Emirates Marketing Project & Liverpool's results have at least been good for the English coefficient. England has now gained 2.250 more points than Italy in the current year. As things currently stand, Italy would need to accumulate 1.452 points more than England next year to take away the 4th Champions League qualifying position from the following season's domestic league.

If they qualify, it would be hard for them to do worse in Europe next year than they (& Southampton) did this year. Thankfully the English coefficient survived despite their effort.
