AVB & Spurs Tactics and Formations discussion thread

Harry is losing it. Perhaps after the initial adrenaline rush of the court case he's now feeling the strain of the whole ordeal, or maybe he's simply distracted by the England job... or maybe a combination of factors. Either way, these tactics are costing us big time.

We've lost 3 difficult games, get a fudging grip.

Ok, trying to put a positive spin on things....

...perhaps a bit of "Harry for Engalnd? Haha, You must be joking" ridicule in the media will get him to buck up his ideas/preparations/tactics??

Harry is a proud man and being called 'too rubbish to manage his country' will bit him REAL hard at this stage...

..Perhaps??

I reckon secretly he thinks he's a shoe in for the England job. Can't think why else our form has dipped to such extremes.

Ah good old KD..ruining threads yet again. Your personal attacks in this thread, apart from being really poor, are really unnecessary. Proper chip on your shoulder it seems.

Back on topic and VDV made a massive difference to our play today hopefully hell stay injury free for the run in.

Hmmm i can sense you're still unhappy with my response to your thread about race relations where you had it in your head that being white prevented you from winning a mobo and not fully understanding the meaning of the word 'origin'. The funny thing was that you started that random thread on international women's day. Now i could understand you starting a thread on that particular day about there not being any need to celebrate international women's day when there isn't an international man's day but nah you decided to create a random story about watching a porno (i assume sexcreta is a porno ?) and moan AGAIN about what isn't fair in regards to race for the 78669667 time. It's no surprise you sympathise with marky tbh. lets move on now. Ah "chip on your shoulder" there's another poster that says that too....despite the other poster ALWAYS being the one starting the topic about how unfair this or that is in regards to race...much like you.

Surprised you haven't written 'man' in all that tbf. Random threads are exactly that - random - and if you don't wanna read it then feel free not to.

Anyway, no more ruining this thread eh? Back on topic boys....

It's ridiculous. Since the turn of the year there have been some ridiculous decisions.

1) Corluka out and Forrest Gump as the first choice right back. fudging really?!! A defender that can't defend as our first choice right back?
2) Kaballsup in front of Dawson when both are fit?!! Against fudging really? Another defender that can't defend and is prone to moments of pure stupidity!
3) Yet again we haven't signed a left back that fudging defend ](*,)
4) No cover for Lennon. The closest we have is Pienaar and we let him go out on loan!!!! And even if Lennon IS fit, Lennon doesn't play well with an attacking full back behind him so that's obvious that him and Gump aren't going to gel ](*,)
5) Bale being given a completely free role. He is a fudging left winger. Sure if he isn't getting any joy out there tell him to roam, but don't tell let him do it as standard behaviour!

First half of the season we had a winning simple formula. A balanced midfield, and two up top (although VDV would wander a little too excessively at times). Simple. And recently he has decided to go all Ramos on us and play players out of position and fudge around changing the system and formation every other game and we wonder why we've become inconsistent.

That said, let's not kneejerk too much. Losing away to Everton isn't exactly a shock result. It's the Utd game that has fudged us. We shouldn't be losing our home games to anyone. We beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge then we are still strong favourites for 3rd, let alone 4th.

Confident?

fudge me
I must have watched a different game from you lot

Typical Gutterboy reactions to the fact that we didn't score and had Defoe on the pitch............including the fact that 442 is the work of the devil.

I don't know if some of you rocket scientists have actually considered something fairly important. You can play whatever formation you like, if the opposition are capable, well organised and skilfull footballers, they can stop you from winning.

You can claim all of the formations you want are better than 442, but if the other team do their job, and we don't get the ball to the forwards often enough and quick enough, then we will struggle to win the game.

You cannot claim that VDV not playing was a mistake, because he has done nothing in recent games to prove that you are right, and he did nothing in his performance today to suggest that an earlier inclusion would have made a difference either.

Instead of all of you trying to win an internet tinkling contest, by making the stupid suggestion that if Harry had taken your advice we would have won, you might like to consider that no matter what the formation, they got lucky with their one clear shot on goal, and we didn't - and that if we had played any of the combo's and players you guys suggested, we still wouldn't have won, if we had played all night.

Get used to it - football isn't a fudging computer game, it has humans in it, and they have moods, form and luck to contend with.

Some of you lot live in cyber lala land, and have lost the ability to think clearly

shut up mick, you'll spoil all the fun i have. you're comments are way out of line (read: they make sense) lol

I'd love to wholly concur with Mick, but I cannot, because the team was incorrectly set-up from the KO today. Everyone saw it, Bale on the right = absurd, Modric on the left = disrespect our best player massively. If you disable your own best XI you are not that great tactically...imo.

This is a serious issue, no mistake.

No here is saying we would have won if we would have done x, y or z. But we would have had a better chance of getting a result today if we didn't purposefully handicap ourselves.

It's not Harry, it's the players whose form has dipped. Now it might be that they think he is off and they have stopped trying so hard...

I think it's Harry, not sure whether it's the England job or what, but until 2 weeks ago he'd made very few errors, now he's making batbrick crazy decisions which means we're constantly fighting an uphill battle.

If we finish 3rd and/or win the FA cup, then that will at least be some consolation. But if we finish 5th, win nothing and he still fudges off, then that will be hard to swallow.

i think 'have stopped trying so hard' may be a bit OTT but it would not be surprising to see a scenario like this effect the players mentally - off the field stuff like this which has a bearing on a footballers future can not be under estimated

im tinkled off over the whole thing tbh (England manager) i see no reason for them to have sacked Capello if they aren't going to be approaching anyone until the end of the season - im almost convinced the whole thing has been concocted to throw a spanner in to the works at Spurs

The VDV part certainly isn't. We actually started to look like a cohesive unit with an ounce of fluency when he finally came on, i'd say he has a claim for being our best player despite only being on for 20 minutes.

Yet when he came on against Arsenal and done fuk all for 45 minutes you still fukking whinge about VDV not starting

60+ appearances for the club, but let's just base an entire opinion around 45 minutes In which basically everyone was as bad/worse. Ok.
