Andros Townsend

I expect Andros to get more than a few minutes against CP. That is his opportunity and I hope he takes it.

I hope he also remembers his defensive duties.

Against CP?

Far more likely to get both of the Europa League matches imo.

If he does not feature against CP then he is not in the 1st team plans and if I was him I would want out.

If i was him i would know far more about what was going on in the team and i wouldn't make snap decisions based on the starting line up in a single game.

id have Townsend ahead of Lennon. Lennon is just becoming so frustrating

however does AVB really rate Townsend? He should, Townsend is just the type of player that AVB usually loves, effective and explosive. But something makes me doubt

I see where you're coming from, but I'd still take Lennon over Townsend, if only because he's a specialised player .Townsend can cut in, shoot, dribble, sprint and cross, but he's not great at any of it, just good at all of it. Whereas if we find ourselves needing to bring on a pure winger at some point, Lennon would definitely be a better option than Townsend, if only because I still can't forget about those first few months in 09-10 when he was utterly unstoppable. If we play to his strengths (like Charlie did, sitting back and angling through balls behind the defenders for Lennon to run on to) or find ourselves needing natural width, Lennon would be the ideal man.

Think Walker is unfairly underrated in this respect - I think he's actually willing and able to supply those sorts of passes, as he did beautifully in one instance against Espanyol.

Yes a beauty of a pass if I recall.

The infrequency of these type of passes could be because Lennon is not making those runs as much. I would also say that Lennon is more likely to play the safe inside pass now than try to take his man on. For me he has lost a bit of spark, like he doubts his own ability. A bit of genuine competition for his place might help him in this regards.

its funny how lennon leans more towards the conservative side while walker takes more risks. its a curious anomaly given their positions.
for that i'd just be tempted to swop them around in a game (when we're leading) just to see how it would play out.

Thank goodness you do not manage my team :)

No. IMO you are either in the army or not in the army. If you are not in the army-join the navy. Or the RAF.

Or become a Community Support Officer.

I have no idea where that analogy leads.

If he's ready to give up on fighting his way into our team after one game in the first season after returning from injury then I would doubt his attitude.
