2015 Africa Cup of Nations

Re: The 2015 African Cup of Nations

I don't know if they were actually rioting, but the security didn't take kindly to the pitch being invaded.

Turns out Democratic Republic of Congo qualified as well from that group as the best 3rd placed team.

Re: The 2015 African Cup of Nations

The former Chelsea manager Avram Grant is the new coach of Ghana after agreeing a 27-month contract, the country’s football association announced on Thursday.

The 54-year-old Israeli, who missed out on winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2008 after a penalty shootout defeat in the final against Manchester United, will lead Ghana in January’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Grant replaces Kwesi Appiah who led the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but departed the job in September.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ghana FA’s headquarters in Accra, president Kwesi Nyantakyi said he has set the Israeli a target of “doing well” at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and aim to win the 2017 edition.

“Grant needs time to know the players very well so we can’t ask him to win the Nations Cup. That would be unrealistic,” he said.

The World Club Cup is currently taking place in Morocco. Strange.

Africa Cup of Nations 2015

Is anyone watching the ACN? Any players that have caught your eye so far? Games to catch up on? Who would you like to win?

Algeria win. Seen a sublime Vine of Nabil turning and passing the ball. Also a monster challenge and nutmeg in one motion. Annoyed they won. Glad to see him getting plaudits though.

You can lose that jubit as your avatar now we have won again

I believe Eurosport have live coverage.

ITV4 shows that day's games 22:00-23:00, repeated following day 18:00-19:00. Not sure who the provider is, but the picture often doesn't keep the ball in the picture, so replays aren't too helpful.

So far some rubbish off-sides (which the commentators also miss), and more route one than we've got used to. Overall it's fairly entertaing.
