It's true but there are factors.
One - we simply have not been moving the ball quickly enough.
Two - as we know, the Brightons of this world pack their half and essentially eliminate the space for those runs unless the passes are needle-threaded. It is why some have suggested that our most dangerous moments come off the breakdown of an opportunity attack, as suddenly that space opens up/the other team cannot put a wall in front of us. To that end I feel sorry for Dele.

One thing which I would be tempted to look for tomorrow (if we need a boost) would be a Llorente/N'Koudou double switch. When teams pack their half, we need the pace out wide to make it harder for them. We can certainly see why Poch wanted Mane back then.

I can see all sides re: Dele, but my gut feeling is we support a wonderful talent at a tough moment and give him the opportunity to power through and deliver.
 
Burnley defender James Tarkowski has accepted a charge of violent conduct and will serve a three-match ban with immediate effect.

The 25-year-old was charged after swinging his arm into Brighton striker Glenn Murray's chest during Saturday's 0-0 draw in the Premier League.

Tarkowski will miss games against Tottenham, Manchester United and Huddersfield this month.

He will be available for Liverpool's visit to Turf Moor on 1 January.

Although Tarkowski accepted the charge, he argued the three-game ban was excessive - a claim rejected by a Football Association panel.

The centre-back has started all 18 of Burnley's Premier League matches this season, helping them reach sixth in the current table - just two points off the Champions League places.

Burnley have the joint-best defensive record in the top tier - alongside both Manchester clubs, City and United - conceding just 12 goals.
 
Shows how poor we have been this season when we need to be happy at mighty Burnley having a defender suspended.

great defensive record however still quite incredible that you could be 6th in the table having scored less than 1 goal per game (though if you're not conceding then scoring 1 is enough....)

Normal mid season abnormality, there is always one team in top 6/8 early-mid December that just is on a run, by February/March it will be back to the usual mix of same old, same old, just the order ....

Pochettino will play Dele, Dier continuing with his philosophy of playing peeps when they are on bad form.

OR continuing his philosophy that the way to regain form is to play in games and also because they have clearly trained better than potential replacements. His stated philosophy is that you sign for a club to train, and the reward for performance in training is being selected for games.

When you are appointed manager at Tottenham you can select the team you want based on your selection philosophy..

We are in no position as a club to pick and choose the trophies we want to win. It remains as ridiculous a philosophy as it did the morning after the West Ham defeat.
 
This is going to be very, very tricky. They are running themselves into the ground for their manager and overachieving as a result (sound familiar?). The crowd will be up for it. A real test of our current mental state.

Enjoyed your sideways take on the defeat by the Spammers but it was his team that deserve the credit, not Poch. He fielded a strong enough side to take care of what was also a sub-strength opponent. But they clearly wanted and needed it so much more than us, it was their Cup Final after all.
