The Official 2017/18 Premier League Thread

They put the pressure on, and have several players run into the area, something we rarely have. We're lined up outside the box, with one or two in the area when the pass comes. City often have 4 or 5.

Makes a massive difference
But teams still seem to give them room to get behind which I find odd

Teams give us room. We don’t have the pace/speed of thought to use it at the moment

I don’t think they do
Most seem to put the whole back 4 on a line and then back it up with wingers as full backs

But I agree we don’t have the speed to get behind and it’s a glaringly obvious problem now

You don't need blistering speed. It's about movement, timing and numbers in the box. Silva isn't fast, but still got on the end of the cross because he started his movement further back, and City had more players in the box in front of him.

We seem to have players who want to receive the ball behind the man who has it
Only Alli makes that run behind from the midfield

and as dominant as Emirates Marketing Project were, wet spam still had a chance to snatch a draw with the rare venture upfield - footy is crazy, but it's all about taking your chances when they come

Hence why we have drawn with some shocking games this season

It happens

Watford gave us the freedom of Vicarage Road on Sat, WBA gave our wide players so much space as well.

Just too slow currently
