Fixture & Ticket News 2017/18

Still no green to be seen :D I think some tickets are being held back so as to fill up parts of blocks in the upper tier before releasing more.

I'm hoping though the dreaded green won't return when the tickets are released. My guess is we've sold about 73k now, so the Prem record is definitely on, but still very unsure about selling out.

One good bit of news is the return of Son, if he can get game time v Toon, I think a lot of Koreans will buy tickets if they think he'll play v Chelsea, which i hope he does as he's one of my favourite players.

But there's no doubt, IMHO, that this CRN business is badly hitting tourist sales. I think we'd be over 80K now if GS was truly GS.

Tourists could easily get tickets. You can buy up to six, so if there is a market for it touts/agencies will be stocking up to sell on.

Good point Ricky, but surely then the price is higher for a tourist because they have to pay the mark up fee for buying from a tout/agency. Depends on what the mark up is I guess. I'll check around google to see if tickets are being sold. Surely there should be tourist interest in Spurs Chelsea at Wembley?

Well a quick check on Google and the first two sites I went to, the cheapest is £75 so the mark up is huge. So, I stick by my original point that the CRN requirement is costing a lot of tourist sales, because you can get tickets way cheaper through the official site.

Of course as the date draws nearer, if the hype builds around the game to the extent that last season's 2nd v 1st in a London derby should generate, maybe a lot of people (tourists/casuals/neutrals) will pay the £75+ that's being asked for.

Our games against teams such as Cheatski, Woolwich and Spam are never going to go on true general sale.
Avoiding any potential risk to the club (in terms of fines/punishments/reputation) if there is crowd trouble - caused by effectively facilitating away fans buying tickets in home areas of the ground through open general sale - will far outweigh getting several hundred - even a few thousand - tourists in. I wouldn't be surprised if the restriction is a safety requirement stipulated by the police or the local safety advisory group in any case.

Can't believe the club still haven't published the Cut off for those people hoping to go Saudi Sportswashing Machine next week. Any good will built up over the past 6-7 seasons with their ticketing policy has been destroyed in 12 dire weeks imo.

Yep GL, good points. So given the club knew this, then why put prices relatively high for a 90k stadium?

Prices needed to have been lower, unless of course we do sell out for Chelsea, which is looking decidedly iffy.

Well, the club made the decision to keep their ST pricing on a par (more or less) with last season's WHL ST pricing.
So once the ST price points were set, that pretty much tied the club's hands in terms of individual match pricing.

Tbh, I don't get the obsession with selling out. Anywhere between 60-70k (especially given we are bang in the middle of holiday season) would be great and bodes well for the new stadium. Anything above that is a very welcome bonus.

Fair enough GL, for me if we only got 60-70k for Chelsea it would be a PR 'own goal' and would indicate the club have got its pricing policies wrong.

Also, we would have missed a marvellous PR opportunity to open the season with a record-breaking event that would have sent great news about Spurs all round the world, especially as the game's on Sky and will be hyped up by their PR machine.

You don't really want a sell out. That would mean you have priced it too low. 90-95% is ideal.

Obviously there will be a mark-up, and most tourists are oblivious to the original channel to purchase tickets anyway. £75 for a top 2 prem clash they will probably think is good value.

This one is a nice market for the touts, easy supply of tickets, plenty of interest, able to offer a reasonably priced ticket to a 'restricted' event.

I can see that from a supply/demand angle, and knowing Levy with his economics background he might will think like that.

But I disagree with that analysis, because I would rather have the huge PR bonus of a record breaking sell out, than make what an extra £20k in revenue by 'shaving the margins'.

To me the club is getting in huge amounts of money from TV, etc, and should look at the bigger picture.

Thought this was interesting on the official site, on the pricing page.

If you look the back half of the east and west upper tiers it's 'greyed' out and has no pricing attached to it.?

Well if they do think it's 'good value', then let's see how many buy them. So far there doesn't seem to be a huge take up from the tourist sector, but of course that's just guesswork on my part. I still think that at a much lower price, more would be buying.

Aren't we obligated to provide a number tickets to people in the borough?

It's interesting re the grey areas Ricky, i wonder if those are the seats currently being held back.

Re the local residents provision, I think that only applies to the new WHL not Wembley.
