Ross Barkley

Now that is the sort of manager that you want to listen to. Known for nurturing talent and bringing out the best in players ... will go down as a future great ... next!

I don't mind him but you couldn't use him as a reference for how he managed an 18 year old Barkley....

I respect Warnock tbh

if we are looking at Barkley then west ham have done us a favour by signing Arnautovic, the fee for a PL experienced overweight and ill disciplined player who scores the odd wonder goal has been set

Some thoughts on Barkley from an ex manager of his.......

"Even when things are not coming off, Ross still wants the ball”

“I think that’s quite unique,” the manager replied. “When we develop young players [in England], I don’t think we credit that sort of bravery. Sometimes you get confused that it is all about going strong in tackles and trying to win 50-50 balls. That bravery is part of the intensity of the whole game.

“But the bravery that Ross has is that he will show for the ball from any angle, he’ll want it, he’ll try to be positive and make things happen for the team. When he gets in the box, when he controls the situation, that is the sign of an incredible footballer.”

Arnautovic is a player with flashes of brilliance but no consistency

Barkley actually hasn't shown the flashes or the consistency he ha just racked up decent stats and performances along with some brick ones

I've never seen him dominate a game but I've seen him do things that makes me see that there's a player there who under a proper coach could excel

Its quite easy ... if you don't like a player then no matter the case he will be brick.

If you like a player no matter how brick or won't fit the system ... There will be a way to make him fit even if you convince others I delusion.

The kid is good but could do with coaching. Goodnight.

We didn't switch formation until the season was well under way so I'm not sure you can argue the plan in the summer was to play Dier at CB. We basically replaced Dier in the starting XI with the Wanyama signing and then once we switched to 3 at the back he got back in the team in a different position - so to me that's proves that Pochettino will sign what he sees as an improvement for the team at the expense of a young player.

Sissoko Son and also N'jie/N'koudou have at various times been signed when Townsend Onomah (only played AM roles for the first team) Mason (argued to be a better no.10 than Eriksen) and Edwards have been tipped for minutes in those positions - Poch preferred to sign more experienced players at their expense - as he should have because giving those players more game time would have seen a drop in quality, similar to the situation we are in now in that our young players aren't quite ready yet

I don't think Wanyama was signed as a straight improvement on Dier. He gave us more options. Injuries to Alderweireld and Vertonghen also played a part. But it was also clear that Dier wasn't getting dropped at any point. Wanyama earned his place as the season progressed and stayed in. But I can't accept that he was signed at the expense of Dier. Never mind Winks as previously claimed.

Townsend was given a fair chance and plenty of game time. I think the players you mentioned were signed after it was clear he wouldn't make it. But he was given that chance. Same with Mason who was trusted and performed as a squad player up until the point out was decided he hadn't progressed sufficiently.

Onomah and Edwards haven't yet reached that level where they've been trusted with a real squad role (first or second choice). But under Pochettino that has happened with Kane, Bentaleb, Mason, Townsend, Dier, Alli and Winks. I imagine it's only a question of time before Onomah, Edwards, CCV or someone else joins that list. And when they do I expect they will fill a squad role that would otherwise have been filled by a new signing.

Well if you are going to highlight his ability and then discuss his mentality i couldn't think of a better coach than poch for that sort of player.
Some people are just too thick to learn even basic concepts. Trust me, I've had to let enough go from our factories that can't understand "pick this up and put it there, repeat"

That quote essentially sums up all that's wrong with football in this country.

It's not some soggy field in the middle of Yorkshire, this is professional football. Skill and intelligence are the order of the day, not having a go.

If true, thanks but no thanks http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/evertons-ross-barkley-demanding-bigger-10825064

Ross Barkley wants £150,000-a-week to join Tottenham — more than they pay their star striker Harry Kane.

Spurs have baulked at the Everton midfielder’s pay demands, as Kane, winner of back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots, and their captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris are only on around £120,000-per-week each.
If true, then what an arrogant prick. £20m and £60k a week is plenty thanks.

And if not true then some player has had his image further denigrated by the speculative punt taken by a journalist desperate to pad out some copy with numbers that he knows aren't going to be challenged or disproved any time soon.

Possibly. I don't think most newspapers make this stuff up from scratch though.

Usually it's an agent or a club wanting to get figures out there. If this wasn't his agent then I'd expect to see some kind of denial soon

Or a deal announced as per the other rumour

The other rumour mentioned nothing about the wages, just the fee (may have had more in the story, got bored at the headline)

If we had such a mediocre player wanting a huge salary I suspect our sale demands would also be low.
