*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea Rent Boys F.A Cup SF ***

I agree it was a gamble that would have made sense if Son kept Moses pinned back or otherwise posed a threat, but it just never worked, and it was apparent from four minutes in. Verts being drawn wider shot our three-man back line all to hell, and Son was useless out on the touchline, utterly lost in defense and attack and unable to bring any of his offensive talents to bear while being easily muscled around by Moses and left stranded otherwise.

And, of course, he conceded the penalty and was hooked after being driven at three or four times and utterly bypassed over the course of the game.

I said during the game, I don't blame Poch for gambling (even if I was mystified with exactly why he chose to gamble in this way). Better that than never experimenting and getting figured out. But he needed to change it. And that was done even more clumsily - putting Trippier on the left when we had Davies on the bench was just utterly indecipherable. Led to two more goals coming directly from that side - Trippier losing his man and forcing Verts to come over and concede a corner we then let Hazard score from, and then Chelsea playing utterly freely on the left before rolling it to Matic for the fourth.

So, when I say they should have asked about Son playing at LB, I mean that they should also have asked about why he was hooked for Trippier going over to the left-hand side, when Davies was right there on the bench waiting.
Good post.

Poch clearly does not rate Davies at all... against a good team he played anyone else instead of Davies... he would probably play Janssen or Vorm left side ahead of Davies.

Although this is quite pleasing since I think Davies needs replacing... clearly El Poco does too!

Or ...... let's try and beef up our squad this summer with high quality players so we can match our rivals when we need to change our first 11
Exactly....
This more than anything else is why we lost...apart from the ref who was a disgrace.
it,s a squad game...14 against 14!

Were not a poor club...but apart from Leicester LOL
you have to have a Billionaire to back your club to be at the very Top.

If we just had a bit more strength we may have won that game.

In fact, because we were lacking in WC players on the field and on the bench is probably why Poch took the gamble to play Son as a wingback.

So...who can we get to back us. I can't see the NFL backing us. Personally I hate the idea of a

Billionaire...
but we;ll win sweet F all without one IMO.

One more thing/
Dembele was Man of the Match by a country Mile!

Well played Dembele ..you were fantastic.

Come on you Spurs..............................

I don't think so. Over the course of the season they have scored two more goals from us in the league from set pieces

http://www.squawka.com/football-tea...any#any#season#1#all-matches#total#desc#total

In the great scheme of things it is a negligible difference.

Ignoring penalties, Chelsea have scored 15 to our 9. I think that is quite significant in close games.

Also, it says Chelsea have only scored three direct free kicks to our ZERO. While that also tells a tale, I am sure that from memory Willian and Luiz have scored more than that this season!

I'm currently watching it again

How does Kante never get booked

4 fouls so far of which a couple were blatant fouls to stop the game

Alli got booked for his only foul

Which is presumably why he gave Davies a new five-year contract a couple of months ago, right? :p

In all honesty, it's a mystery to me why Davies was treated this way for such a big game. Maybe he was shaken up over Ugo?

Obviously, your argument starts looking stronger when you ignore the data that don't support it

Simple: Moses pace.

That accounts for why he didn't start. Five minutes in (actually, four minutes in) when it was proven that Son wasn't doing a damn thing about Moses' pace (or doing anything at all more broadly), why wasn't he brought on?

At least he could have been brought on in the second half, after Son had been breezed past about five times by the same Moses that we had apparently set the left side up to contain. But no, instead Trippier was put into the LB slot (and looked patently uncomfortable there, constantly cutting back onto his right when in possession and getting stranded on the touchline when out of it, much like Son).

I didn't ask why Davies didn't start - as I said, a gamble was made, fair enough. I was questioning why Davies was treated the way he was throughout the game, even when it was patently, pitifully clear that he was needed, and needed badly.

5 mins in is hardly enough time to give Son a chance. He was not responsible for their first goal. Poch did eventually switch Trippier onto the left perhaps because he chose his superior crossing ability over Davies, it really is easy to criticise from our arm chairs but the manager has got so many decisions right this season I will give him the benefit of the doubt. I really think you are over emphasising the Son issue. He dived in impetuously but could have done that even if he hadn't played the wing back role. Ultim we lost because they were able to change things up more than us.

Just home. I thought Chelsea were fouling persistently and the ref was far far too lenient towards them. We were good, but not great unfortunately, and we needed to be great to win....
The amount of fouls they got away with was, in a football - not legal - sense, criminal. And tacokinson hardly gave any of them a speaking to after nasty, late, jiggly fouls.

I always do it

I always watch a Game I've been too

Watching it again I can see yang the ref didn't give us anything that wasn't blatant and obvious - he is a really weak ref

He didn't even give the pen, his Lino did

This is the same ref that gave Matas miracle him too

He's almost as muggy as Jon Moss. Cheatski must have been pumping the air when they heard he'd been appointed.
