Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

No manager has built a league winning team for the prem with zero outlay

Leiceter were built and set up basically by Pearson

Everyone else has spent money to get there

But we're genuinely unique in that our core is English and we're younger than everyone else

1) I am not going to pick out individual posts, but you know as well as I do that there are those who worship him on here.
2) No, not all the signings have been atrocious, but far to many. Surely you realise that !!
3) I only said that Arry established us as a top six side (4th in 2 seasons). From that point onward we have continued to be top six. You may see last season as a success for Poch, whereas I see it as failure. Finishing 3rd in a two horse race behind Arsenal, and not even attempting to win a trophy is not my idea of a good year.

I accept that I tend to see the glass half empty, but perhaps my expectations are higher. I am older enough to have been going to the Lane for many years, and fortunate enough to have experienced many cup finals. These are the days I long for, not just finishing in the top 6 of a league we can't win.

3rd in a two horse race. Honestly. To who's credit is it that we were ever in a two horse race?

You expect more than third place. Therein lies the problem.

Like all managers he has a list of targets. We do not know who was on them and who we ended up getting. Mitchell's abrupt quitting has an echo around it that we do not know much about. Something happened. I think, for now, I'd rather focus on how he has developed Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Harry Kane, Sonny and Dele Alli, along with the likes of KWP and CCV on the cusp of first-team action. Janssen is indeed a strange case, we shall see. NKoudo, like Njie, seems to have massive potential versus injuries/what he has been able to do. Let's see. I personally think too man y people forget where we were three years ago.

Fair points, especially your last sentence which indeed puts great perspective on things.
I've a ticket for this ride anyhow:)

I have been posting on Spurs forums for years, and nothing changes. Say something that isn't positive and I get accused of being an Arsenal supporter or a WUM. You really aren't very original mate. In actual fact I have had a season ticket for 18 years and been going to the Lane since 1971.

I live in the real world, and the vast majority of the time I am right, and when I am not I admit it. Now, back to the thread. I judge a manager by his ability to get the best out of the squad he has, his ability to buy top players at the right price, his ability to actually win trophies, and his ability to entertain. I don't think Poch is a bad manager, and I do not think he is a great manager. If I am honest it's fairly unlikely we are in a position to get a better one. I just get fed up with some supporters who think he is the messiah, when in actual fact all we have done is finish 3rd in a two horse race, and buy some pretty atrocious players. Yes, we are an established top 6 side, and this is quite impressive considering our net spend is virtually zero, but that goes back to Arry. If we manage to finish top 3 and win the FA cup my opinion of him will indeed change, but I honestly can't see that changing. In the meantime I shall continue to give him my support, but I am not having his name tattooed on my chest quite yet.
we finished third last year, because the players lost all interest when the title wasn't on anymore - the lads couldn't care less about the scum, quite frankly, they were a non-entity last season, no affect on the title race. Seems like it's going that way again this year, chasing the title, perhaps even the FA cup. I for one do think we need to win something.

Poch getting players is limited by the wages we are willing to offer, and that is down to levy. As I said, as good as we are, we can beat anyone on our day, we MUST win something. Or it's all for nothing, except a solid bedrock/foundation, to build on years to come. Let's see mate.

Slight correct .. that is limited by our current levels of income, plus the investments we are making in infrastruture

I hope he stays and builds something and i guess it is to be expected that he is linked with other clubs as he is doing such a good job. I would have the chap at Hull to replace him if Poch does go.
