Spurs v Monaco OMT

Wow. How bad are we right now?:(
I guess that last-gasp win vs the Hammers was indeed papering over the cracks.

Can anybody tell me how we are NOT seeing the beginning of the end for Poch; i.e. that we have been fully turned into nothing more than an athletics outfit and now even too knackered/physically drained to even do that anymore?:(

Feels very last-days-of-AVB...

I don't agree. Champions League has been awful, league performances a mixed bag, but we are 4 points fro the top and unbeaten. Last days of AVB we were shipping loads of goals and looked broken. We don't look that way in our league games imo.

Here's a question. Ignoring the new buys for a moment, have any of our players been playing better this season than last? Son maybe in fits and starts but he almost had couldn't regress from where he was. Lloris I suppose. The rest have all regressed really in my opinion.

I guess my point is that so many of our players look off form and all at the same time, give or take the odd game. We can only get better, right?

1997 all over again!
Oh.

Rio on BT just beat me to it. Where the **** has our high pressing game gone?? We look so slow lately

You cant press with any the new formations we've played in the last 3 games. Tonight it was 3 up front spread across the pitch.
We are told in TV analysis by annoying pundit after pundit "look how spurs press, the front player goes knowing the player behind him will join him in the press."
Kane couldnt press because there was no Spurs player behind him. Winks or Dembele stayed deep in midfield. All they have to do is pass it around Kane.

Then when we changed to the diamond formation with two up front. We couldnt press because the opposition full backs are always free. They always had an out ball.

assuming we caught city on an off day we haven't played anyone decent in the league yet, arsenals record masks their strength of schedule

chelsea are going to be a major step up from anything we have faced this season

CL Spurs is the real Spurs I worry

Chelsea haven't played anybody since they changed to 343 iirc. Arsenal smashed them just prior, they also top their Champions League group, so they can't be that bad.

As for Emirates Marketing Project, they have only lost to us in the league and Barca away in the Champions League (and they had a rotated side that lost to Utd in the league cup). So off days or not, no sh1tty teams have beaten them this season.

We are capable of getting a result against Chelsea imo.

Could not agree more with this from Paul O Keefe:
'I'm a big fan of Poch but to come straight out with we need to add quality is poor form. Desire and effort are free'

Did he actually say that? If so, b*llocks, Poch. B*llocks. Levy gave you a net f*cking spend, my man. Something he didn't do for six years prior to this summer, and something he didn't do for Harry Redknapp (our most successful manager of recent times), AVB (who achieved our record points total) and, well, Sherwood (who sort of stood there looking smarmy in his gillet).

You don't get to complain about the tools you've been given after that. Not so soon after that, in any eventuality. Seriously, bad form, Poch.

We spent 70mill roughly in the summer on new players yet we are worse .If thats not Poch's fault then what is.The line between success and failure can sometimes be very narrow.I think Poch is moving towards the failure side.Hopefully won't take as long to get back into the CL as last time.We are 5-7th who sometimes rise above the parapet. We did this year and got firmly beaten down.If getting a draw against chelsea is a result then yes we are capable more likely we go into free fall for a few games. Why do we need to out think everyone with different supposedly clever formations play 4-4-2 and let the quality shine through. We make the simple complicated.

I'm afraid Pochettino's famed high press is turning into a debased squelch. We seriously need to step it up.

we've dropped the press dramatically, whether it's a tactical response from Poch after last seasons collapse or laziness from the players themselves who knows

We've played Liverpool, City and Arsenal and none of them have beaten us. Chelsea next - we'll see what happens there. I'm not sure who else in the league is 'decent', but whoever they are, they're currently beneath us in the table.

Are you for real? FFS I gotta be honest I expected better from you.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino on BT Sport: "We are out and we have time to assess and analyse. It is true we feel disappointed but today we missed opportunities.

"I think we made too many mistakes at home at Wembley. We don't deserve to go through to the next round because we didn't show enough quality.

"We will take many things from this defeat, you learn and improve every day. Now we are trying to reduce the gap on the teams above us in the Premier League."

Tottenham striker Harry Kane on BT Sport: "It is disappointing. We got ourselves back in the game at 1-1 and it was schoolboy to concede straight after that.

"We had to try to grind out a win because we were not great - the second goal took the stuffing out of us. I just don't think on the day we were good enough.

"I'm gutted - we wanted to go far but it is something we will have to deal with. Losing two of our home games in this competition - yes, we played at Wembley this year but it has to be a fortress at home.

"We will look back and say it was the home games were we should've been better."
