Vincent Janssen

I was (rather lamely) connecting our other debate about the players 'bottling' it, and suggesting that you were 'bottling' it regarding the faith in the team and manager.

IMO a bit early for being 'deeply concerned' and Levys grand plans imploding

We're 1 month on from City and 3 pts off the top.

Levy will not get rid of Poch.

Out of a list possible issues....what's your guess on what's going on?

As for Sissoko, i may well be on-board with you shortly:eek:

This from another post from on the pochettino thread

Wanyama looks great and does his defensive midfield job with aplomb, unfortunately and for some inexplicable reason his arrival looks like it may have caused waves throughout the squad as it meant players changing roles. I'm only surmising that his arrival as the big Pochettino favourite in this important role 'may' have put some noses out of joint in what was a very close knit bunch of young "friends".
Dier looks to me to be a popular lad with in the group, but spent some prolonged time earlier in the season on the bench until Tobys forced absence.
It just could be a reason for this current loss of form from some of the players as they come to terms with the 'new boy/boys'?

I'll hop this discussion over to the Poch thread as Vincent is probably not appreciating the lack of service we are giving him in his own thread;)

I might be overly harsh on him but I thought if he was less flat footed he would have got closer to Walkers Cross/shot - plus whilst the ball was not great his movement for the cross in the last 10 or so was terrible.

I don't think the service to him has been great, however he needs to do a lot more movement wise.

I thought he could've got to that and that he also should've been sharper to get to the rebound.

Harsh methinks. It's all about confidence with strikers and VJ's must be a little dented at this point. The ball never really fell for him on the rebound - one of their defenders touched it , meaning it just went through his legs before he could react. No blame on him from me there. He just needs a bit of luck in front of goal, so far he hasn't had any whatsoever.

I feel for VJ. Thrown in at the deepend - totally unfair.

PS I dont see Janssen getting the better of Mustafi and Koscielny in Sunday's game. They are far more mobile than him.

I feel a Janssen/Kane partnership might work extremely well with Janssen at the point. Janssen's strength is to hold up the ball and lay it off to runners or set it back, and I can see Kane feeding off that and taking even more shots than he usually does!!

Your theory is as good as anybodys..........

Personally we are just made a houses arse of it. We just needed a similar styled striker with as much experience as our finances would stretch to, to come on when/if Harry is not there for whatever reason.

Yes! This! I really hope that's the plan eventually. Would love us to have two central strikers again, and can see them benefiting from one another once they get into it.

There very mobile but also quite rash in their challenges - I also think they try to play a tight line as a defence which if Jansenn can hold up the ball well enough and we get runnera coming off him it's a big opportunity

I like this idea, however would they be mobile/quick enough as a 2?

Care to name who you think that should have been?

Sturridge, Boney or Austin.

Literally off the top my head

Yeah, like Sturridge and Bony would have been cheap in terms of transfer fees and wages...not to mention how they would have performed in a pressing energetic system as proven as they are with coaches who like to play like that......Austin? Well would he have excelled in a high-pressing system, let alone been happy to play second-fiddle to Kane when Kane is fit??

Think Teddy/Klinsman :). Teddy was as slow as molasses.

A nostalgic choice of example - I think the game is now far faster.

I was watching Lewandowsky the other night and he was both rapid and tireless.

Jurgen was no slouch and much quicker than Edward

Yeah I get the funny video. What is the point of asking a serious question then taking the tinkle when you get an answer?

VJ + Sissoko £48m 'allegedly'.

I dare say there are some candidates for that sort of money
