OMT - Tottenham Hotspur - Leicester City

I don't know if anyone mentioned it earlier but Leicester fouled from first minute to last. Ranieri praised their performance - all i can say is that it was miserable anti-football. The ref was extraordinarily lenient. Pathetic way to approach the game - to stifle it with dozens of little fowls - a truly appalling attitude to the "glorious game", on par with West Brom and Stoke in the pomp.

We are only 3 points off the top. Things can change very quickly.

We scored more goals last season than any other team bar Emirates Marketing Project (we got 69, they scored 71). In the first 10 games of last season, we scored 16 goals, 9 of those coming in 2 games (4-1 win v City, 5-1 win v Bournemouth). We failed to score in 3 of the first 10 league games of last season.

In the first 10 league games of this season, we've scored 14 goals. We've failed to score in 1 of those games. So I think we are about where we were last season at this stage in terms of our attack. We had 17 points at this stage last season, this season we have 20 points.

It's fair to say we are slow to get going in attack, but last season shows it doesn't necessarily stay that way. Kane coming back makes me more optimistic.

Ref was shocking on that front
He spoke to Morgan 3 times and never booked him
He brought Mahrez back for a clear card and then warned him
How was Huth not yellowed for the pen which was a clear professional foul
Rose and son got booked for their first fouls

yeah, I hope we put a complaint in about the ref, he was very poor

of course I know we won't

Ref was awful and inconsistent. I was shocked when he gave the pen. And to be fair, Wanyama should have got a yellow too.

Agreed. Other things which give me hope are:
- we haven't yet clicked this season, Man C at home aside. Therefore we're close to the top without really having a sustained decent period of playing well
- during the CL break, and also when our CL run ends, the advantage which Liverpool and Chelsea have over us in terms of fixture list will go away so our players will be less tired and we can prepare a lot better for games

I have always wanted Dembele to dribble into the box. It's is by far and away the best way to counter ten men behind the ball.
Totally agree.
We need to change his mind-set.
Today was not best day for that due to Mahrez but with Wantana good at playing the lone DM, he should be comfortable driving into oppo box.

We are not as good as we like to think we are.3 draws is the equivalent of losing 2 games.I think we will finish 5-6 we don't seem to be on the same level.Still not to sure about this Bisela method not really proven to be that successfull.we seem to expend a lot of energy for not a lot of reward

Depends on what you want for the season of course, but for me, I'd happily take top 4 again and consecutive CL qualification.

So even if we lost the next 3, I don't think that scuppers our chances after just one third of the season. So much football to play, and the table doesn't really start to take shape until halfway through really.
Points lost at the start of season = points lost at the end of season.

Not to mention he impact on confidence if lost early for the rest of season.

Probably not much Poch can do right now except tinker with personnel and tactics but Jan window we desperately need to add goals, pace and guile, in that order.

hitting the woodwork is still missing the target, I felt both attempts could have been better

completely agree on the second point, Son and Eriksen were far too deep today
Re: Son, has he not been most effective for us from the left?
So why did he spend the entire match on the right?

Just arrived back home from the match.

Okay the result was disappointing and we were not at our best, we were are very very unlucky not to win that. Alli unlucky in the first half hitting the bar and Vertoghen in the second.
Those watching the match with benefit of replays will tell me better, but I thought we could have had 3 penalties in the first half let alone 1, which brings me to the ref.
What can I say, f#ckin hopeless. As lurkerofold said, bar the first few minutes when they were quite dangerous, they spent the rest of the match committing fouls. I think I counted 8 offences that went unpunished by a yellow card, and the first one made by Spurs he couldnt flash it fast enough.
Their fans were giving it plenty about them being champions, but I tell you what, if you have to play football like that to become champions, then I will gladly go another 50 years without winning it, because watching that display b7 'our champions' was embarassing.

Which brings me nicely to support, and I have to say, bearing in mind we werent losing, today was one of the worst showings by our home support, totally outsung for the full game.

Last point, credit where its due, well played Janssen today, ran his socks off for 90mins

Easily the worst in the league at the moment. He also did our league game against Liverpool. While it was a correct penalty, some will say it was a bit soft. He still let Huth and Morgan carry on with their grappling all game without booking either.

They made 13 fouls in the first half and got 0 bookings
We made 3 and got 2 - work that out
Robert Huth made 5 passes in that half... 2 to feet. He had less touchés of the ball than agbonlahor did vs us last season

Hilariously they all think he was completely biased against them in their forum. Just proves no matter what side we stand we will always hate refs!

What a frustrating afternoon that was. We have to learn to be more clinical but first off we have to start transitioning the ball faster. We seemed scared to get the ball forward quickly and looked more comfortable passing sideways or backwards. Yet we did still create some chances, hit the bar, made Schmiecel work a bit but we need to do better. Leicester created nothing, nothing, in the first half and apart from the gifted goal (what were you thinking of, Wanyama?) straight off in the 2nd half, it was a good 70-odd minutes before they started putting us under any real pressure. Eriksen wasn't at his best although a few free kicks came close. But the player who most disappointed me today was Son. We needed his pace and trickery to get through their lines but he just wasn't in the game. Ali did well, always pressing and hassling. Wanyama was great first half, but faded as the second half wore on. Great to see Dembele back. Thought he looked a bit rusty (not surprisingly) to start but grew into the game and kept Mahrez under control. Janssen worked hard, without getting much service. And that turn and shot in the box towards the end was a sign of things to come I'm sure. But my MOTM was Danny Rose. Excellent as ever. Yes he made a couple of mistakes but he is just always there when needed.

Ref was very, very poor. Let foul after foul from them go unpunished, then books Danny Rose. I don't think he let us take a single free kick quickly. Anytime we tried he blew and pulled it back.

Leicester are still an awful team to watch. Hoof ball all the way. Constant fouling, pulling, pushing, time wasting - how do they still get away with it? They might be champions, as they took pleasure in reminding us, but there really is nothing to be proud of playing football the way they do. The sooner they drop out of the PL the better.

So, 4th in the table, 3 points off the top. Unbeaten in the league. All that and we haven't yet hit our stride (I hope). No need to hit the panic button. But that 'goals for' column is looking a bit sparse. I still think it is going to click and we are going to give someone a real hiding. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
