OMT - Tottenham Hotspur - Leicester City

We hit the bar twice which are fine margins and the difference between a solid 3-1 and a poor 1 all!!!

I don't know the answer but the players behind the striker need to pull their finger out ASAP

hitting the woodwork is still missing the target, I felt both attempts could have been better

completely agree on the second point, Son and Eriksen were far too deep today

I didn't see the game, was at work. How did we play?

Phucking terrible result, probably the first result I'm properly gutted with this season. Leicester have been battered by everyone away from home in the league. To mount a title challenge, we need to win most of our home games and dropping points against a side struggling away from home is really poor.

A key run of games coming up. We have a chance to make a mark, or we can watch the wheels come off. We need Harry back asap -- we defend well, but we need a player who can finish and who can win a match for us. Harry is the talisman.

First half was played on the edge of their box, I genuinely don't think Hugo touched the ball with his hands, should have scored a few more and possibly had another penalty.

Second half we gave them a goal within 2 mins then spent the next half an hour playing passes across their box although in truth we didn't create much.

The last 10 they had a bit of posession in our half and a couple of high balls into the box were badly dealt with by our CB's.

A very frustrating afternoon.

Allis shot was first time and after a defection so was top drawer IMO

Didn't really see the header from my end

I don't think he needed to hit it so hard and high, he got under it a bit, he's scored from harder situations before. I feel this season he is trying to do things too emphatically.

Verts was unchallenged about 10 yards out iirc, he should have headed it down imo.

Better late than never. That's not a criticism btw. I used to go with my Dad when I was young, until I was old enough to go on my own. Then I had a good number of years where I drifted away from going at all, due to finances mainly. By the time I started going again,my dad had moved away from London, was not very mobile nor in great health, so I never thought it would work out to take him. But it could have been done had I put my mind to it. He passed away a couple of years ago, and I really wish I had made more of an effort to get him back to the Lane.
So don't regret not having taken him before now, just enjoy the day with him.
And if we win, well, he'll be your lucky omen!
Very nice of you to say. I won't feel bad as I can take him to loads now.

He loved it and told me to pipe down when I was getting lary with the away fans. We were the last box on the west stand so literally next to them. Got a photo with this legend too! And yes I've put on weight since my wedding 3 weeks agai haha!

Woodwork twice? I felt we deserved a bit more luck!!!!!

...Sonny's been off-form for a couple for sure, I wonder if his plantar issues have come back? I am about to do something I rarely do - single out one player who needs to step up and make the difference he can make; Christian Eriksen. His first-half was bizarrely poor. We had two midfielders on the pitch, we had full-backs absolutely raging forth, we had Dele willing to run yet for some reason, Eriksen kept on taking up negative space, passing laterally and never looked to push into pockets of space where he could positively affect the game. He found space but in areas where he bothered no-one. The spaces were there, in those areas just behind the front, Dele was drifting into them but honestly? I think Christian didn't fancy the physical today. Looked to me like Poch gave him the HT 'get tighter to Janssen and the fudging 35 yards from goal where his skill and intelligence can make the difference. For 10 minutes it looked promising, but then he just faded again. The only reason I can think that Dele got subbed was because he put in a proper shift back to front. IF we play Eriksen next week and IF he plays like that, we will get done. I understand that there were others who were not on it, but for me, Eriksen is currently the biggest culprit and has been consistently. Again, I ask if something is going on with him off the pitch. I hope the man is OK, and I ain't joking.

Janssen? When we got closer to him second half and played to his current strength (ball to feet) he was effective. Great free-kick, desperately unlucky with the turn and shot, won the pen, dispatched the pen. Given that he is not Harry Kane, that is not a bad afternoon's work IMO.

I agree with those saying Dembele should be in behind. Absolutely. And if we are to play him in the three next weekend, I would vote for giving Winks the start alongside Wanyama, with Lamela and Dele making up the other two. We will need serious muscle and fight next weekend as well as craft. We cannot have a single passenger.

Finally, I agree that our return from the last few Prem games is not good enough if we want to win this thing, but I think we need to figure in that we have not played with our first choice spine for most of the season, and been without three key players for most games this season. It underscores a point made earlier, that currently we idon'thave the strength in depth we might need, but the question becomes whether we make this the season to develop the kids on the bench so as they are exactly that, or whether we look to buy. How I wish we could pinch Mata! Won't happen!

But they get players forward and attack the box and ball

It's simple with good players and we have them

We do lack dribblers though. City have several players who can carry the ball at speed and go past people, Arsenal and Liverpool have a few too. For me, that's the big difference between our respective attacks.

We need variety there
Maybe that's what NKodu can offer

We lack anyone with the x-factor in attacking areas. We're far too predictable. We have 6 senior players for the 3 positions behind the CF but none are outstanding and I don't think any of them are that hard to defence against. GKN may get there however he's very raw and we need to use him more centrally rather than have him hogging the touchline and taking up Rose's space

Sadly we are very predictable - and lack any pace upfront.

Houston - we have a problem! Our back up players aren't good enough.

I exempt VJ from this as it is still too early to make a judgement. However, if you compare our rivals (especially Liverpool as was amply demonstrated on Tuesday) their back ups are far superior to ours. We got rid of Chadli, Pritchard, Bentaleb and Townsend. Are any of their replacements better? We needed some star quality in key positions. Have we got it - either in our purchases or our youngsters? Where is the pace? Where is the guile? Where are understudies for Dembele, Eriksen and Lamela?

I don't know what happened to our strategy in the buying department, but I can't begin to fathom the Sissoko purchase.

This is a team that will finish 3rd at best, and i'd bite your hand off if you offered me this now. When your top striker is out, it's up the rest of them to find goals and this lot have floundered against 3 mid to lower league teams who between them have conceded 44 goals this season. Janssen is more van Hooijdonk than van Nistelrooy.

Totally agree.
I'm not sure there is much anybody can do until we have a higher and importantly 'stable' revenue base. I'm hoping the new stadium will lead to that end. At the moment I feel we are tinkering the edges of the real problem, which is the woefully poor atticking player options. Eriksen needs a proper quality understudy along with Son and Kane,
The transfers are questionable at best VJ needs time to learn the EPL without all the pressure.

Currently it feels like Arse and Man C for the top two positions, and then between us Liverpool and Cheatski for 3rd to 5th. The silver lining which I'm trying to cling to is that we're still there or thereabouts despite having the CL commitments. If we're still in a similar position when we exit the CL then we have a decent chance of 3rd
