OMT Tottenham vs Liverpool

I'm not bothered with losing but we were half hearted in certain areas tonight - better youngsters playing for Liverpool which annoys as we have a much lauded academy.

We need to take look at our youngsters coaching setup IMHO
I watch the youngsters as often as I can like you do.
Do you think it is a false lauding, since Poch, I feel, promotes some a bit prematurely, perhaps in his desire to cement his reputation of promoting young talent, especially English talent?

It still hurts as much as when I was a kid to go out of a cup. I'm so disappointed with the team selection and the chances we had which weren't taken. Feel sorry for our boys who travelled up there.

My feelings as well, it hurts to see us go out yet another competition with a weakened side.

Anyone who travelled all the way up there expecting a different line up didn't do their homework.

I do feel sorry for anyone who has to visit that cesspit though.

You know what that has finally sunk in with me and its why i gave my ticket away for to nights game. I have been travelling around from piller to post in cup competitions only to see us ( in the most part field weaken sides) in started with " rent a quote" doing it against Shaktar and its gone on ever since.

Every season we seem to throw away any chance we have to actually win something, well now we have only the FA Cup left ( because not even the most loyal Spurs fans really thinks we are going to win the CL or the Prem do they?).

That was about as soft as a сосk gets, although the penalty was arguably softer. We wouldn't have scored a goal from open play if we'd played for three days with breaks for lunch and tea.

I honestly believe that we can win the league. I'm not saying we will, but I think we can and I think we will be right up there.

The Harry Kane argument is wearing a little thin. Harry has much more all round skill base than Vince will ever have.
Harry has proved the exception rather that the rule.

No its relevant... I wasn't talk about Jansenn I was talking about Onomah. People have started writing Onomah off already... People will soon start criticising winks even when he doesnt the play

It was a response about the comment around the youth set up

We may be in with a shout for it but i just do not think we will win it, said the same thing last year and was shouted down for it. We are still a young side and we are still learning to become a top one and because of that i think its too early to be expecting us to win the Prem. I do believe that winning something will inspire our young side to want more and BIGGER trophys but it will not happen overnight (imo).

I think we might well win the PL yes, as for the CL, that has to be our target surely, what's that quote about aiming high?

You only get what you will settle for and I applaud our ambition.

I felt Janssen had a good game, he worked hard and there is a discussion on here about whether we are creative enough as a team, hence the number of chances were low.

However, I thought he should have done better with that header in the first half. He reminds me, not of Soldado, who was a technically superior player, but of Gary Doherty. His hold play is strong, lacks pace, can tackle and defend.
But Doherty would have finished that chance in the air.
I think he would be better with another striker who can run beyond him. When he held the ball up or won it wide, he looked up to deliver into the box, but there was no one there. If another striker was in the box, he would look better. Kane might well adapt to this. In which case we might actually look more threatening.

Easy to forget most of our team are still under 25.

it wouldnt be overnight though it would be over 38 games (being sarcastic) and over 3 seasons. That's a good time for a manager to develop a style and system which we now have in abundance (as demonstrated by the pressing tonight)

No body expected what we did last year and we are better set up now squad wise in what is a league that is about fine margins. We have t actually played very well in any game other than City (we have had great halves) and bizarrely players getting injured now but being not missed results wise could work in our favour in the matter parts with their added freshness (I always saw Arse improve when Rossicky came back from his half season break)

Will we win it ... 1 in 20 chance. Can we win it, yeah definitely

You mean how he works with son in the league games

Nothing wrong with ambition mate after all that is what winning things means. But thinking we are going to win the CL is not clear thinking if anyone believes we can do that at the moment.

Liverpool also played a weakend side and they don't have any european football. There weaker players are better than ours.It was a bad draw and i didn't see anything other than this result when the names came out of the hat.More worrying is the four points dropped against wba and Bournemouth. These are they type of games you have to win if you have title ambitions. We will know much more after the next 4 league games but I suspect we will finish 5-6th .We already look a bit tired.

I am not knocking what Poch is/has done but three seasons ( against the money that some clubs throw around) is not a good time. It took Fergie longer then that to turn Utd around and he had to throw a lot of money at it to do so.

Not right now, but sending out a strong team tonight does nothing to get us any closer.
