Isco

Reminds me of a championship striker, slow, poor first touch.
He is 100% effort which is brilliant but we alway fall back on "he's hard working" to justify a new players.

In the same vein I figure you will suggest we sell Harry Kane because his first touch and all round game has been rubbish so far this season? No?

I would suggest that just as you would not want us to sell Kane because you have seen what he has done over the last two seasons you have not seen enough of Janssen to make an informed opinion on him. Spurs must have scouted him extensively to have gotten the deal done so relatively early when compared to our normal transfer dealings.

As for the "he's hard working"comment I remember when that was the only positive thing that could be said about Lamela. It looked like we had spunked away approx £30m, now in his third season almost every single Spurs fan has Lamela in their starting 11 when everyone is fit.

Sort yourself out man.It is obviously too premature to be this negative on a new signing :)

I'm sorted thanks. I hope Janssen joins the ranks of my epic misjudgments, which include the likes of the 'early' Modric and recently Lamela.
Kane can be added to that list I think. He leaves totally perplexed as to what makes a good forward and although he has surpassed many people's expectation including myself I still find myself surprised when he scores and shocked by the amount.

I dont like what I see in Janssen he is the epitome of the likes Dele for touch and mobility, reminds me of a Charlie Austin. Now thats not too shabby in itself probably .

Im not one who thinks "he tries hard" and "runs around a lot" a football attribute at the level Spurs 'should' be recruiting from eg Isco

This stinks of a last minute chelsea deal, and then a loan in january to some middle table spanish side.

Didn't want him anyway :) Smart approach @StephenH. I think we are far more likely to get Coric, though that won't be an easy deal either. Coric is probably better value, more exciting (could be a RM starter one day rather than reject) but we need a few older players, so personally would favour Isco short term.

We are as a club now hamstrung with "we found Modric and Bale" we are now being out spent by Crystal Palace and Everton. I will stand by my 'top half finish' this season sadly as it in line with our squad investment.
Not at all anti building new stadium by the way.............just a little weary of lack of quality additions.

Its got to be a positive for someone like Coric imo. We have an exceptional record. Even the likes of Bentaleb have done very well out of our setup. Had he been at City, Chel$ea or United would he have progressed and be on the contract he is now?

Poch just needs a little time. And we need some perspective - 10 games - and we'll see how we're doing then. Too early to say. CL at Wemberly is going to be outstanding! Could our home next season.

Wanyama and Janssen represent genuine upgrades. Add one or two more quality players, and provide space for the likes of Winks, Onohma, I will be very happy. Then Poch needs time and support. We need to sign his name more.

Wanyama brilliant!.................................
Poch has all the time in world as far as I'm concerned and Levy is the man. They both need to be carefull when the are continually looking for bargains in the transfer market.

Yes true. It is the price we pay for such astute business. They have to get the balance right. If we don't secure signings, Mason will not be sold. Chadli is maybe covered by the Frenchman who may sign one day!

Janssen is ideal replacing Kane. Imo play Kane up top and let Janssen rotate with him. Then get the 3 behind passing and moving better. We don't always use the space out wide. If Walker and Rose are not pushing up, we can be narrow.

I shouldn't have but I just treated myself to a ten minute Isco YouTube video. Pretty much gave me a semi.

Please just get him Mr Levy.

Danny Levy needs to ring up his buddies, Florentino, Gareth & Luka. I'm sure they could help get this done.

Would love Isco, even on loan. He'd be an education for some of our boys and just to hear him say, "Chelsea came in for me but I chose Pochettino, Spurs and Champions League football"

Kane must play upfront!

Just seems like an easy to fabricate rumour to me. Won't believe for a second that he's joining us. Coric sounds way more plausible. I wouldn't mind either though.

Not too excited for two reasons ...

- Seems unlikely
- I've seen him play for Madrid, and in a team where the opposition pays no attention to him (Renaldo/Bale/Modric/Benzema usually take all the marking/attention), he's generally ineffective and a bit of a highlights reel player. Isco/James/Kroos have all failed at Madrid and its just who they unload when.

thats what 90% of fans used to say about Kane before he started banging them in for fun

The more I think about this the more I want it.
Just read Poch saying he wanted someone like Mane. Why didn't we go for Mane? We've just recouped so much from Chadli, Pritchard, Njie, Mason? He would have been superb for us. Isco is a no brainer. I know we have constraints but Daniel find the money, make it happen. Act like a club who are serious about rivalling City, United and co.
We are not going to lose money on assets like this

he said that. Then its criminal we didnt go for him.

At £40m? When he signed for pool most on here were slating him  I think I said at the time he was a quality player but 40m is a significant wedge. Would probably pay for the roof of WHL II.

he signed for 30 mill rising up to 34 depending on all sorts of conditions.

i think if we had lodged our interest early enough Mane would have kicked up a fuss and demanded to join us and we could have got him for 30 mill. No way would he have chosen Liverpool over us. He wanted CL football

Not so sure - his wages could have been the/our continuing bloody problem!
This must change when the new gaff is finished!
