This would be a smart move. Impressive young player - 19yo winger who is tall, strong and very quick.

If true, this is excellent news. Much much better than Zaha at a fraction of the price. Just the sort of youngster we should be going for IMO. As I said previously, he reminds me of a young Bale. Every time he gets the ball there is a frisson of excitement among fans, just like I remember with Gareth or Azza in the early days.

Perhaps he could wear this when they unveil him?

Hope they didn't produce too many of those. Maybe they could be repurposed into seat covers or cushions at their new home.

So it looks like Wenger is caving in to pressure and blowing a bucket load of cash on two players who other than adding depth to the squad really don't bring anything exceptional for £50m +.

Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed he held talks at Mauricio Pochettino’s house before deciding to join Tottenham.

The £25million Liverpool signing was invited to Pochettino’s home for summer talks and told his agent immediately afterwards that he was signing for Tottenham.

But Wijnaldum failed to agree terms with Spurs and joined the Merseysiders from Saudi Sportswashing Machine late last month.

Speaking to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, as quoted by the Sun, Wijnaldum said: “I went to Mauricio Pochettino’s house before I spoke to Liverpool.

“After the meeting I told my agent ‘I’m going to join Spurs’. Pochettino is a terrific manager, if you look at the way his teams play. I was impressed with what he had to say.

“He set out his way of working and I was convinced he could improve any player no matter what age they are. His method gives players such specific duties they become better as a result.

“I saw Spurs as being a very good fit for me — but we were unable to agree financial terms with them.

“With hindsight, though, that was not a disaster.”

Former PSV Eindhoven star Wijnaldum hit 11 goals in 40 games for Saudi Sportswashing Machine last season but was unable to prevent Rafa Benitez’s side being relegated.

After the move to Tottenham fell through, the Holland international quickly agreed the terms of a Liverpool deal that the Daily Star report is worth £75,000-a-week.

Wijnaldum said: “Pochettino was terrific but then Jurgen Klopp made me feel even more relaxed. From the moment I first spoke with him I knew that I wanted to join Liverpool.

“I fell for Klopp — hook, line and sinker. He invited me to his house and before I was even inside he was asking me why I’d been on the bench last season.

“I explained it was a decision taken by Saudi Sportswashing Machine boss Rafa Benitez and he said he didn’t understand it.

“We then began talking and I got more enthusiastic by the minute. Klopp was just as energetic as he appears on TV.

“He radiated enthusiasm as he talked about matches and how he wants his team to play — and he struck me with his passion for the game.

“He said how English clubs like to leave things late with transfers but he doesn’t. And told me ‘If you want to join us we’ll put in a bid tomorrow’.

“I thought ‘Let’s see what happens’ but Liverpool duly phoned Saudi Sportswashing Machine the next day.”

Wijnaldum is expected to line up for Liverpool on Saturday in their lunchtime clash against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Most interesting thing about the Wijnaldum story is that we managed to agree a fee with Saudi Sportswashing Machine for him. Presumably it would have been somewhere close to the £25m which Liverpool paid for him....there's obviously fnuds available to Poch

So, Poch wanted Wijnaldum badly enough to have him over at his house. And we subsequently couldn`t agree `financially`. Hmm. Not at all surprised, but disappointed nonetheless.

Judging by the fact that we need pace and some clever play up front and Janssen will take time to settle into the Prem, how about a bid for Sturridge?

He was clearly peeved to see Origi come on before him today and I don't think Klopp rates him.
We could do with him if he can forge half the partnership he had with Suarez with Kane, then I would be happy.

Chadli on loan to wbrom. I'm pleased the way Spurs are trying to take another step now by upgrading the squad. Of course it is a little unsettling. ideally Poch would have all players in place for preseason and know his best 11 by now working with them on tactics etc. Which is far from what's happen this season. The euro players haven't even completed physical conditioning training and they are back on international duty! Do we need more busied knees etc as Furguson's team seemed to when international friendlies came round?

The point is, we are having a bit of a clear out with Chadli, Mason, Bentaleb off. We have new young talent coming through, and if we can invest the cash saved on squad players on 1-2 better players, then we're doing the right thing. We should be upgrading even if it does disrupt Poch's preparations short term.

I don't think so, clubs give permission for their players to speak to other clubs before financials are agreed sometimes. Berahino visited Hotspur way last summer for example and notice that during the Klopp meeting jurgen says if you want to join we will bid for you tmrw.

Chances are we met him and both parties decided we wanted it to happen and then we quickly found out Saudi Sportswashing Machine wouldn't budge from their 25m valuation and the player wouldn't budge from his 75k pw wages.

A correct decision at this moment in time to walk away imo.

We can do a better deal than wijnaldrum at 25m/75k or be better bringing onamah through. Wijnaldrum at 16m/50k I'd probably be saying something different.

Zaza is a one in three to one in four striker.Spammers are welcome to him.No doubt wants to leave italy after the penalty debacle at the euros. As for Wijnaldurm time will tell if our transfer dealings will be enough for us to hang onto top 4.

All signs were it was a permanent signing turns out it's just a loan with option to buy. I guess when the rest of Europe has rejected your advances it's better to not go home alone, even if you plan to kick it out the next morning.

Steven Nzonzi anyone? I think he would be an ideal understudy for Moussa. We don't have another driving midfielder in the squad and if we could somehow sign Nzonzi and Isco, I would be in dreamland.
