Manager Sack Watch 2015/16

I think it was soccernomics/why England lose that explained how little difference to results managers statistically make

Bruce, Hughes, Keane and Robson have all had times of success and disappointment

Has there ever been a successful manager that has emerged from the utd teams under fergie? seems keane, hughes, bruce etc... have all been average

I think it's unfair to say that Hughes and Bruce haven't been successful. They have both had several PL jobs with varying degrees of success. They aren't elite managers, but not many are. How many managers of comparable age would be considered successful if Hughes is considered average?

What about Ole Solskjaer with Molde?

I'll ask a more general question, which managers have a record for turning out players who became top managers?

Arthur Rowe with Nicholson and Ramsay comes to mind.

Of course he may be a success in the future and he may not, he will not be the first player to fail after playing. We shall see as its easy to pontificate on the game because you were a very good player but it means nothing once you become a manager.
Alan Shearer and Tony Adams springs to mind. Probably the worst two managers ever in the PL. Apart from Gross. Just mentioning him sends shivers down my spine!

Never rated Martinez and viewed it as a bullet dodged for us.
FDB is a blind, I reckon he will wait and see what happens at Arsenal or even Man U.

Well that's been coming for a while. Taking up a role in Spain might be a good move, he'll probably find more success over there.

So was Poch when he went to Southampton

But Everton will want to play safer.........whether Koeman sees Everton as better than Southampton is another matter. Personally I like Koeman and think he would do well at a "big bank balance" club like Man U. Would have him at Spurs. I believe he is as good as Poch.

Losing a manager to us is of course upsetting for Southampton, but at least, deep down, I'm sure the fans understand it. But losing a manager to Everton would be particularly hard to take.

Not according to Everton fans:

Also, we're obviously an upgrade in Southampton. Take the last two seasons out as a Martinez-led anomaly, and we're a massively bigger club.

I said in the other thread that once again we're looking to employ a manager who has to step up to our level. Regardless of league positions these last two years I think even Soton fans will agree Everton is a step up for Koeman.

But we sure as heck have moved on from the starting position with our last two appointments, when we moved for the coaches of Preston North End and Wigan Athletic.

To be fair Southampton isn't that much bigger a club to come from either.

I am ruling out neither Jose nor Simeone.

They should probably just ask Moyes back. He'd probably say yes in a shot; known quantity for them and a chance for both parties to restabilise.
