*** Tottenham Hotspur vs Qarabağ FK OMT ***

Morale? Momentum? Better than dossing around in the cold with Ugo and the kids?

And because it's a crucial European tie.

Its not crucial given we have a get-out via the Monaco game.

And the morale argument is vastly over-ridden by the fact that he'll wake up on Saturday/Sunday this weekend and being knackered from trapsing half away around the world just to sit on the bench. His day today will start when he woke up this morning and finish at about 7am tomorrow morning when he gets home, having not slept (bar perhaps a cat nap on the plane). That's pretty cr@p preparation for a huge league game at noon on Sunday

Ref BT ShowCase ....... BEWARE !

When they broadcast a match, the signal strength is adjusted so that Adverts, EL logos, EL anthems on player entry come out fine and dandy.

However, the studio chatter and game itself is subject to frequent 'interference' to both picture and sound. I'll be recording it, but watching the real channel in the pub.

Understandable I suppose, as their aim is to get you to sign up for the full quality. And pay for it ... I am a cheapskate.

It all just begins to sound like "wah, wah, wah, why isn't he doing what I said..." after a while though. No one seriously thought that he would leave the whole of the first team squad at home, he has probably gone as far as he can.

Agreed Milo.

Further thoughts (generally)...

I will step into this...I work with people who have insane travel schedules and sometimes fly from one country to another to another in a 24 hour period, have a day off, perform and fly again. I have done it with them many times. IF your preparations are consistent, IF your patterns remain the same when you travel, IF the hotels are either the same management or at least have the same layouts/bedding/food, there is NO reason you cannot do this every so often. Especially in your early 20s. Sorry, that is the truth. They are on a charter with good leg-room/set recline which will allow them to stretch out, they are doubtless going through an FBO (most likely Luton's FBO) and given Poch's eye for detail, I expect he has demanded (and received, top class advance work from the logistics team at the club whose job it is to make these trips smooth.

Can you guys ever just admit Poch occasionally makes mistakes?
We all like the guy but defending him blindly over this is not productive.
I understand Gutter's Boy wanting to prioritise the Europa more than "the 10 hour round trip to Asia will have effect" "dont ever question Poch" argument.

The guy has even come out today and said he thinks Chelsea have a huge advantage http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...elp-ahead-of-5000-mile-qarabag-a6749521.html? and yet he still refuses to prioritise the league.

I don't think this is one of those cases where Poch is making a mistake, although as I said in a previous post, I'll reserve judgment for after the Chelski match. Yes, it is a long trip with whatever effects this happens to have on the players. As obvious as it may seem to us that the bulk of the first team should not even get near a plane, I would think that the coach and staff know much better than all of us put together what the players can bear and how it will affect them. So if they are taking Dier, Kane, et al to Baku, then maybe they know something we don't. And of course Poch is going to say that Chelsea is going to have a huge advantage. It's all gamesmanship. Even if the team had to take a cab to play a couple of streets down he would have said something similar.

THFC team: Lloris (c), Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Mason; Alli, Eriksen, Son; Kane

THFC subs: Vorm, Wimmer, Carroll, Townsend, Onomah, Winks, Clinton

I don't think that Poch doing something different to what you would do is necessarily a mistake or warrants your constant moaning when it does happen.

He has difficult decisions to make all of the time, I would frequently make a different one to him but I am not privy to the same information as him or aware of the club's priorities for the season.

One way or another, Qarabag are gonna end up with 5p, I mean 5pts!

Too easy...

P.S. I think it's pronounced Kara (like the girl's name) and Baa (as in sheep).

Not privy to the same information? Does Poch have a special Europa League Group J table were a loss today and a win against Monaco at home doesnt get us into the next room?

It is not on BT sport 1 or 2 or Euro

It is on BT Showcase which is available on freeview on channel 59 and Virgin and BTs own box but not on Sky
Well the BT Sport Twitter are promoting it on their Europe channel, which is how I'll be watching it this evening; albeit on cable.

Boom shaka laka more time to prepare for the Chelsea game after this match. But still want us to field our best available team in this match. We under estimated Qarabag at home earlier. And they almost made us pay for that as they scored first. Fortunately for us, Son inspired us to come back from behind to win. So, we should take them seriously at their place now. Afterall, we lost to Anderlecht in our previous EL match. So, we need to get back into winning form in Europe. Hope we will do just that against Qarabag.

Hope Pochettino will play our best available players in this match, especially Kane. Kane has been in good goal scoring form recently. I am sure he wants to continue that run. You don't want him to lose his goal scoring momentum at this stage. Besides, we don't have any other consistent goal scorer now. Son has looked rusty since coming back from injury. After scoring 2 goals against Qarabag at home, hope he can find back his form in this match. Similiarly, want to see Lamela continue his good form this season, maybe scoring or assisting a goal or two. Eriksen is another player who can inspire us in this match if he is at his best. Wish Eriksen can score in this match as he is capable of scoring more goals for us.

Maybe we can reshuffle our midfield a bit since we seem to have a few options. Won't mind if we rest the likes of Alli and Dier. I think Alli needs some rest as he has been playing too many matches despite being only 19. Mason and Dembele can play in their place. Dembele has been in good form recently. Surely, we want him to continue this momentum.

Similiarly, want Vertonghen and Alderweireldn to continue their good performance in defence. Maybe, Pochettino will be tempted to play Vorm in place of Lloris. But somehow, I am still not convinced of Vorm as he makes too many mistakes. Regardless of who plays, just hope we can keep a clean sheet for once !

Can see Qarabag making it a difficult match for us. Just hope we will turn up with the right mentality and get the win !
