iirc most sacked manager contracts allow them to continue being paid a full salary of what remains until they find a new job, and after thats it no more.

Most managers reach a settlement with the club to pay up a portion of their remaining contract. They will continue being paid until a settlement has been reached. If the club drag their heels on agreeing a deal then the manager cannot take up another position which is why some managers have waived some or all of their settlement in order to start another job.
