Eric Dier

Don't get too carried away. He's just a stop-gap. He's a CB and he'll be going back to backup CB when we get a proper DM in.

He already looks as good as, if not better than and DM in the league

It's one thing to buy someone else so he can drop back into defence but it's also possible that this now could be his position for the foreseeable future

plenty of great centre backs have played holding midfield when they were younger. Kompany being a good example and it's a great learning curve for Dier. I can't see him moving back into defence for us this season and maybe a couple of seasons now to be honest

Although we could move Jan or Toby forward if Dier is suspended I wouldn't want to break up that partnership. Dembelle or Bentaleb for me.

Not sure about that at all ( if you are being serious), the last thing he looks at the moment is a stop gap.

Dier and Mason were looking good together before Masons injury - I suspect Alli will keep his place and Mason will have to earn it back though

I dont know why he would be a stop gap...looks like he is doing excellently here

whats a proper DM? what skill set does one of those have that eric doesnt?
I was being sarcastic. I had said from the beginning that just because he started as a CB it didn't mean that's where his best position is and maybe he would do well at DM, but most folks were insisting he's a stop-gap at DM and CB is his position. Just wanted to poke some fun. :)

Stats from whoscored. I'd say he holds his own against the players we were linked with this summer...

Morgan Schneiderlin 6(1) 538 - - 1 - 0.4 91 1 - 7.08

Edit: It looked a lot better when I created the post. Tab doesn't work for some reason...

7.08 and yet he hasn't really impressed. I was never that bothered and didn't see what all the fuss was with MS and I've seen nothing at Man U to change that.

Dier not in the England squad & yet Hodgson saw Dier dominate against Emirates Marketing Project..weird
