Alex Pritchard

Pritch is back!

Haven't been so excited about an academy player since the King claimed his throne....

SPURS 4-1 EVERTON U21S - UGO'S VERDICT
Posted on 10 August 2015 - 16:41

Ugo Ehiogu had nothing but plusses after our Under-21s opened their Barclays Under-21 Premier League campaign with a convincing 4-1 win against Everton at Hotspur Way on Monday.

Alex Pritchard returned from the ankle injury sustained on England Under-21 duty to score twice with Nathan Oduwa and Shaq Coulthirst also on target.

Hugo Lloris was also back in competitive action after his wrist injury in pre-season. The goalkeeper played 35 minutes against AC Milan in the Audi Cup last week, was an unused substitute at Old Trafford on Saturday and played 90 minutes this time around.

“It’s good to see hard work, intent and application applied to talent and that always gives you a chance to win any football match,” said Ugo.

“The first-team management were all here and that adds a little pressure as well, the players have to deal with that and they handled it well.

“Alex Pritchard was excellent and Hugo brings a calmness and reassurance when he plays, it’s wonderful when the lads can play in front of him.”

The lads raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to Alex’s double - one a trademark free-kick into the top corner - and Nathan’s finish from a tight angle.

Everton responded just before the break and although we controlled the tempo of the second half, it took until the 86th minute for Shaq to add the fourth.

Unless he's falling over - how is that physically possible in a game of football??? He must have some serious centre of gravity - like those balloon punchbags for kids!

He is the one we have all been waiting for. Agree with Maltese, havent been this excited about a home grown talent with Ledley. Get him on the bench on Saturday, this kid could save us millions

Brilliant! Could it be they took him off at half time to save him for Saturday, or is he so far behind in fitness that he needs a couple of weeks more?
Loved what I saw of him at the U21 Euro, he was easily Englands best player before he got injured.

Remember seeing him vs Barca in the NextGen at the Lane. He was very good but I was sure he was too old to break through by that point.

Glad to see both him and Mason (another one who I was sure would never make it after such early promise) finally getting their chances. Shows the value of having patience with these kids!!

EDIT: I believe that game also featured a 14 or 15 year old Josh Onomah!

Great - have Pritchard come back just in time to be poleaxed by Charlie ****ing Adam.

If only Ryan Shawcross and Charlie Adam could run into each other at a fair velocity and do each other just a little damage in about the 4th minute.

Seriously, isn't it about time one of our players gave Charlie Adam a bit of a kicking? Even if someone has a to take a booking and walk a tightrope for the remainder of the game.

Was that the game we demolished Barca 4-1? I think there was talk of Barca being seriously interested in Shaq Coulhirst after that game. In the next game didn't we annihilate Inter 7-0? I think Pritchard scored a free-kick in that game too.

cant wait for Pritchard to be given a chance. Potentially its like a new 10-15 mill signing

Lets not overestimate the boy either. He has bags of potential but the Premiership is much tougher than the championship and i feel we may be putting a little to much pressure on the lad.
