Mauricio Pochettino - Sacked

FatalAcidicJellyfish.gif

Coolest guy, more of this at Wembley please.
I can't stop watching that

I used to like Mourinho. Once upon a time he didn't really take himself seriously in media interviews and it was funny to see the red tops lapping it up. Now I think he's little more than a parody of that former character. Or in other words, he's a prick.

We now have a 56.4% win ratio under Pochettino, the highest of any Spurs manager in the past 116 years.

Initially I weren't to sure about his appointment and at times he has me doubting him. But overall, I can't help but be very impressed with Mauricio Pochettino!

He's doing well. But that stat is only impressive if that ratio is maintained after at least a couple of seasons. I mean Sherwood held the best ratio before, but that was only over half a season or so also...

Funny that when the Ade, Capoue, Kaboul axis of brick isn't in the squad we do well again. Suggests that once Poch gets this squad the way he wants it that we are really going to fire. Also, that backing him is paying dividends.

Hopefully Poch has learnt that lesson for the last time.

Very disappointed Pochettino have not bought any top quality players since joining us. All his signings since then have only been decent : Vorm, Davies, Dier, Fazio, Stambouli, Yedlin and Alli. They have not improved us much. In fact, Pochettino have based his team on the players bought under previous managers.

More disappointed he has not bought any players from his previous club Southampton, just like AVB before him. As it is, AVB would have had more success if he had signed Moutinho from his previous club Porto. Wonder if Pochettino's failure to sign players like Schneiderlin from Southampton will have a huge say in how he does at Spurs.

Of course they've improved us. Vorm is better then Friedel. Davies is better then the likes of Naughton playing at left back, Dier and Fazio are better than Kaboul and Chiriches and Dawson who departed and Stambouli has provided good depth.

Pochettino has drilled a very good mentality into the team. Still a way to go but that'll come with experience and winning things. This teams average age is younger than 25 for him for GHod sake.

Atleast Poch has me loving Tottenham again. Don't tell me you forgot how distant we all felt from the club last year. There is definitely a togetherness this year and I feel connected to these players.

Why on Earth does Poch get the blame for failing to sign the players he wanted? Understand: it is highly unlikely that Porch actually has much to do with transfers at the club. The most accurate scenario is that he paces hopefully into Levy's 'transfer committee' meeting with a list of targets he wants, and emerges ashen-faced a few minutes later as Levy's derisory laughter rings in the hallway, his list crumpled in his fist.

Poch wants quality - Levy flings the cheapest possible option at him and tells him to get on with it, 'ambitions' be damned. It's happened before, it's happened to previous managers and it will happen again. The best Poch can do is work with the players we have and make them better: anything further is trusting Levy and Lewis to put backing their managers above a negative net spend, and the very thought probably gives them cold sweats.

I have seen no evidence that Poch is unhappy with the signings we have made since he has been at the club. In fact, I would say that the opposite appears to be the case and coach and club appear to be pulling in the same direction for the first time in ages.

The same sentiment was expressed after the summer of 2013, you know. AVB expressed happiness with our transfer activity, played most of the signings fairly often, and we mostly settled down with the belief that the club and the manager were in accord over our transfer policy and our use of the Bale money.

Hoo boy, that rosy picture didn't last long. There isn't all that much (save perhaps for Poch's own seemingly non-confrontational nature) that prevents a repeat of that scenario, IMO.

I agree he has made some good signings and they have made us a better team, still a way to go but its a work in progress and the signs are looking good.

We used to rely on one player, now we rely on two so that's progress at least.

Still think we need another centre half, another winger, a striker and someone like Schneiderlin.

I'm not trying to plot a conspiracy theory, but Poch is bound to say he's happy with the signings in the short term. I fully expect to see at least one of his first targets brought in this summer.

2? Lloris, Kane & Eriksen all equally important at the moment imv with Bentaleb being talked up as vital to how we play since he has been away at the ACN - not forgetting Chadli either who was scoring important goals during the first half of the season. it's almost as though we have the beginnings of a team...

Sorry I meant outfield players. Chadli chips in with his fair share of goals too agreed, but more often than not it's Eriksen and Kane who save us.

I seem to remember lots of rumours about AVB being unhappy with our transfer activity at the time. Although the stories about AVB accepting our youth first policy and then asking for megastars did not get out until just after he left.
