Harry Kane MBE

Harry Kane has now scored more goals in all competitions this season (20) than any other Premier League player.

Arry has actually only started 13 PL games this season and has 10 PL goals

not bad is it :)

Not too shabby at all for a 21 year old who is getting his first run of starts in the PL, thoroughly showing up his vastly more experienced and costly forward colleagues!

Kane now has the third best goals-per-90-minutes rate in the league (for those with 1000+ minutes played) behind only Aguero and Costa.

If he can keep this up he will become only the fourth Spurs player to score 20+ league goals in the past quarter century; alongside Bale, Sheringham and Lineker.

That's either extremely funny or stupid from the Chelsea tweet.

Edit: Reading the twitter thread, he's now making out that it was a joke

I hope he can manage at least 10 more goals this season. I think 30 would be a nice round number
That would certainly put Kane in elite company, as only 5 Tottenham players have managed to score 30+ goals in a season (all comps) since WWII:

Gary Lineker (1991/92)
Clive Allen (1986/87)
Martin Chivers (1970/71 + 71/72 + 72/73)
Jimmy Greaves (1961/62 + 62/63 + 63/64 + 64/65 + 66/67 + 67/68 + 68/69)
Bobby Smith (1957/58 + 58/59 + 59/60 + 60/61)

Fingers crossed Kane can add his name to that list!

I really don't think he's been anywhere near too selfish so far.

Most of the time he looks up, but if strikers were always looking for the pass they would miss good opportunities to just fashion a bit of space and strike it. Particularly when you can strike it like Kane a bit of selfishness is a good thing.

I don't remember the particular situation against Sheffield you talk of. I remember one where he could have passed it, but it was far from an easy or obvious pass as Eriksen was tracked quite well by the defenders. Might have been one that slipped my mind though.

It was in the 12th min against Sheff Utd. Kane got a pass from Lamela and there were 2 or 3 players surrounding him but none were tracking Eriksen into the box. Eriksen were calling for the pass but Kane decided to shoot himself which was easily saved by the goalie. Eriksen showed his frustration for not getting the pass from Kane. Maybe Kane thought he could score himself but Eriksen would have much better chance.

It will be great if Kane can score 30 plus goals but it will be almost impossible I think. All the matches are going to be tough for us from now on including in the EL.

I want Kane to stay selfish and single-minded. He doesn't take the easy, safe option (we already have too many players who do that) and unlike someone like Townsend, he actually has the ability to warrant playing in a selfish way. He's like Bale, just let him do what he wants and feed that self-belief that he has.

Quite right. Fortunately we've no need worry on that score, this fella's got his head together and knows exactly what he's doing. It's the way he gets his goals so why on earth would he or his manager want it to change?

Could not agree more, it makes me laugh when I hear those who say he is greedy and should pass more. All great strikers are greedy, I saw the best of them all ( Greaves ) and he never passed the ball if there was a shot on for him.

Well he scored 2 against Chelsea and they are the best team in the league

I can't get over how he's improved in the last year, he's developing into a very special talent

I think Chelsea under estimated Kane's clinical finishes in that match. But from now on, he will be a marked player. Other teams are going to mark him closely.

Instead of setting a very high target, Kane should set a target goal by goal. With his 2 goals against WBA, he has overcome Crooks(1982) and Adebayor(2012)'s goals of 18 goals. Kane's next targets should be :

Hoddle(1980), Defoe(2004) = 22 goals
Berbatov(2007 and 2008), Keane(2008) = 23 goals
Sheringham(1996), Defoe(2010) = 24 goals
Archibald(1981), Falco(1986) = 25 goals
Lineker(1990), Bale(2013) = 26 goals
Archibald(1984), Sheringham(1993) = 28 goals
Falco(1985), Klinsmann(1995) = 29 goals
Lineker(1992) = 35 goals
Allen(1987) = 49 goals

These are the Spurs players who have scored more than 20 goals since 1980. I think it will be almost impossible for any Spurs players to ever reach Lineker's 35 goals in 1992 or Allen's 49 goals in 1987. I think Kane can be very proud if he can reach or overcome 26 goals scored by Lineker(1990) and Bale(2013).
