New takeover rumours

would be a huge reverse wouldn't it, under ENIC we flog the good players

How much would we pay to get Ade flogged after one of his dismal performances? I'm starting to warm to the idea... :-k

We might also do a side line in stoning gays, or those who are pi$$ed, which would probably account for most of the fans!

Worst thing that could ever happen to us. I'll be Tottenham Til I Die, but I've no interest in watching some billionaire wear our club like a piece of jewellery until they get bored and trade us in for the next trendy thing, like upgrading their yacht. It's tacky and tasteless and doesn't represent the club I've loved since I was a kid. So yeah, I'll be Tottenham Til I Die, but if we join the City / Monaco / Chelsea train I'll be averting my eyes for the duration of that particular journey. All the while hoping we don't end up like Hearts.

Amen.

If you believe that football is about winning at all costs then this is the right move for you. Having a backer like the Qatari will certainly guarantee that. And I can understand this perspective totally. We have had more than our fair share of disappointment and this would catapult us back to the summit in one fell swoop. But I'm with DublinSpur on this and abhor the thought of our club's soul being sold as a plaything for the disgustingly rich.

The journey analagy is apt. I'm in it for the journey as well as the prize. Call me weird but I strangely like the randomness of this club and the unexpected plot twists on the way. What's the point otherwise? Why skip to the end of the story without reading the build up. Why have an academy? Some will want this to go ahead but for me it would end the 32 year romance I've had with this club, so in my heart I'm desperately hoping this is just another page filler.

Would absolutely kill me to see Saudi Sportswashing Machine or Everton get a sugar daddy. Not that I want one and think it has probably come to late to make any difference now that Chelsea and Emirates Marketing Project have already brought themselves to the top table.

My guess is that this story is just The Sun adding two and two together and getting one billion.

There has been a recent confirmed story that Boris Johnson has been talking to various Qatari officials about investing in the Tottenham area's regeneration. The Sun are almost certainly just making an imaginative leap to claim that the Qataris are also looking at investing in the club.

Incidentally, if they do invest in Spurs, they wouldn't be allowed to own more than 25% of the club - unless they sold their stake in PSG (and they certainly won't do that).

But we're not going to get to the top through transfers and youth products. We sign the likes of Stambouli because we can't sign top players. We fail to sign players who have been well scouted & who add to the team.

Instead, we sign players who are quickly worth less than half their transfer fee. Soldado, Paulinho and Lamela; there's three signings who we will never recoup good money for. In fact, outside of Eriksen, and potentially Davies, I can't say that we've made a good signing in too long. And Eriksen was well known.

Something needs to change.

Re: ****ter Rumour

If it changes I'll go along with it. But I'm happy with the status quo....happy to struggle as the under dog

Not for me. I don't like where we are at the moment, but I'm happy to wait for the new stadium and the good young talent we have to develop. I feel much happier seeing players like Kane, Bentaleb and Mason come through the ranks and show that we are producing players of worth rather than being the next footballer mercenary hot bed.

Re: ****ter Rumour

Thing is even with a zillionaire benefactor winning trophies is still not assured. The frustration levels might even be higher with more options available (but non guaranteeing success).

It's the journey that's more important to me. And I look forward to the new stadium too.

My turn to add two and two lol

Could this really be Enic.. Levy and Lewis doing the right thing and selling a chunk of the club to pay for the stadium! Or am I getting my hopes up. In return they give loads of lolly and Enic give them naming rights and 25% of Enic.

one might argue that the Arabs could make money on there 25% simply by getting the stadium done and then selling that 25% (almost like a 250m single bond) whilst still having naming rights in 5 yrs.

i do think it's bull**** though, it's at best maybe planted, to make other people act. Saying thAt would they use the Sun... No!.. The cynic in me definately thinks this could be a ploy to get people to subscribe to there website just before Christmas.

I know some of you arent against the idea of a sugardaddy.
Thats fair enough.
But you have to look at the kind of people this money is coming from.
This.

They've already ruined Mayfair with their crass displays of wealth. I don't want them ruining my club too.

Also agree I would rather we try and break the mould and build our way to the top through academy products and good transfers.

Suggest you come down from the clouds mate...

The chances of this happening are close to 1 in a trillion. You would need at least 18 top class players to materialise concurrently!! At best we can bring through another Bale... only for him to be snapped up by a sugar daddy club.

Let's face it... the ONLY way we can become a regular CL team is through a sugar daddy.

So are you saying we break FFP rulings?

people seem to be under the impression we could stick two fingers up to UEFA.

Eh? Atletico Madrid

PSG and Emirates Marketing Project just got a smack on the wrist
They both got fined and squad restrictions. It was always the intention that the penalties for not meeting FFP were tiered. So if they fail to meet it again they will face a more severe punishment.

FFP only benefits the already richest clubs. FFP the way it works now, is effectively preventing other suger daddy clubs of entering elite club territory. Now it would be impossible to do the same as PSG, Monaco and Emirates Marketing Project did, because of FFP.
