OMT ××××× TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS VS Villa ×××××××

Match facts are all stacked in our favor - 63% possession 18 shots, 7 on target.

I think being a goal down early on and the frustration we experience as supporters with poor misplaced passes etc and chasing the game gives us a more negative outlook on games - had we scored those two goals early on in the second half and the game played out the same way we'd all be a lot more positive

We didn't play well and there's plenty to learn from but didn't deserve to come away with less than we did.

They won on my birthday....:D

A completely undeserved three points on the balance of play, and barely tissue-papers over what are not so much massive cracks as glacial ravines in the way we are set up this season. Nine times out of ten, we'd have just gone on to lose that game 1-0, as well, ten men or no ten men.

Agreed, the players were woeful today.

Hiding, not competing properly, nor did they have the skill... embarassing.

I feel like a Hull fan.

Like a Hull fan FFS.

Why does no one give us that kind of sympathy when we lose a game we didn't deserve to?

I'm not sure mate, how many saves did Guzan make?

Er ... 5?

7 shots on target minus 2 goals

They might not count Kanes free kick as on target so it could be 6

Soldados free header, Kanes free header Adebayor one on one - we had far and away the better chances throughout the game but that will all be forgotton because the overall performance was quite scrappy

Yep - on paper it's a decent run of fixtures - put him in

Surely it doesn't matter if it's a decent run of fixtures or a nightmare string of City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Brazil 1970. I don't think Kane will let his head drop in any of those games, and we desperately need the fire and commitment he brings regardless of whatever technical superiority Ade may enjoy over him.

Not sure Kane did enough to warrant a start in the PL. Yet people will wet themselves if he does not. For me Ade and Soldado add more quality. Kane will come on, but there is no harm in him taking time, scoring in cup games and improving.

Agreed though I fail to see any technical superiority at the moment.

Kaboul, Capoue & Ade need to play thursday and be dropped vs stoke.....which Im going to.

Fair point - was more saying it's a good chance for him to continue his form

We don't see the players in training. So it is hard to know who can play the best. But Dembele or Stambouli over Capoue for me. Then Fazio for Kaboul:

Naughton Fazio Verts Rose
Dembele Mason
Chadli Soldado Eriksen
Ade

On the balance of play it was well deserved and most days we'd have scored first.

Through the ****-tinted Spurs glasses there's a tendency to ignore everything we did well, which was create chances. The way we defend as a team needs improving though.

So,what, Fazio, Stambouli and Kane in for those guys? I think that'd be a decent idea, actually: as long as the three behind the front man remain unchanged (Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela), I think we can afford a bit of flux elsewhere.

Fair point - was more saying it's a good chance for him to continue his form

Fair enough.

I'd play Kane in that #10 ahead of Eriksen right now. Christian simply cannot take games by the scruff like his talent demands. I think he can really, really benefit from taking a break and getting some extra training/readjustment, because right now, he simply seems prepared to show up and rely on his natural ability.

Lamela off the left, Chadli off the right, Kane in the 10, Nobby up-top. Nobby played well today for me. Mason was excellent. Capoue was poor, Younes and Verts less than solid...

Kane was the difference. .. the whole support was better after he came on.

He had enthusiasm, but what else did he do? Missed an easy chance as Ade did, and got a massive deflection to score. I love the guy and he will come on as a player, but people are just setting themselves up for more disappointment making him the messiah.

Our build up play, especially our midfield need to pass the ball better to create more. The amount of poor passes where a good one would have setup a goal...our passing and movement is where the problem is.
