World Cup SF - Germany vs Brazil

I think the money they'll receive from sponsorship and the money it will generate should see them through.

Shocking performance. Scholari should retire in shame. Absolutely shocking from the Brazilians tonight.

No, they just want their government to spend THEIR tax on things like decent schools, health care and public housing, rather than spunking it away on white elephant stadiums. But you know that already, don't you?:-"
Simple answer - don't give governments money, they always **** it up.

Brazil would've lost today even with Neymar and Silva. Probably not in such a humiliating manner, but still - Germany are simply a much, much better team.

Not in dispute. However, wouldn't it be nice to have
a) not bulldozed a bunch of 'homes' to make way for the event OR if you're going to
b) have made sure some of the filthy lucre taken in is thus put back into those (and other) communities?

I'll take your first line as a Carr's water biscuit you old rascal!

Shall we continue? I'll go all day if you like matey ;-)...
I don't think Brazil should have won the hosting in the first place. There are plenty of European countries with better stadia/infrastructure and a climate more suited to football.

I tell you what though, it will be just as funny if Germany now lose the final :)

There is one man who can stop the Germans

He probably should...

It was shocking. I wonder how many of the 23 in that World Cup squad will be dropped for their next international squad under whoever their next manager is. They have a lot of players at a similar level to those in the squad, could see a new man wish to make big changes.

Agreed.

Couldn't happen to a more annoying team. They kicked their way into the semi final. They think they have a divine right to win the world cup. They way the crowd booed the end of Chilean anthem in the 2nd round was a disgrace.
As for the crowd, **** them. Upper middle class idiots with smart phones squealing every time brazil attack while a few miles away their countrymen are stuck in slums with not water and no electricity.

Cold and efficient? If Brazil had played like Germany today they would've been hailed the kings of samba football. I can't remember the last time I saw a "cold and efficient" German side, probably back in 2002, the sides they've had since then have been playing proper eye candy football.

You've translated 'cold and efficient' as boring footie - not the case. I mean, playing without pressure and according to tactics.

Agreed.
In fact, I think the fact the UK has not had it shows us EXACTLY what FIFA is all about; money. Not nearly as much to be squeezed from, say, the UK as the facilities and structure are in place.
But of course, they say it's to 'spread the wealth of the game' or some such ********. LOL. Sort of.

Their economy was doing very well - and Europe was sinking, might have had an impact. That said, not comfortable that they also have the next Olympics, that will give them a lot of backing in the money they have invested.

I still fancy Argentina

Normally I'd fancy Germany (and I still think they'll win it), but it could depend on how they respond to this ridiculously good result.

Argentina's best chance is an over confident Germany, IMO. They haven't looked convincing at all. They've got Messi of course, and he can do it on his own, but I think Argentina will need an Aguero or Di Maria on fire to make it a bit harder for the Germans.

And, of course, they still have to beat Holland first. Which won't be easy.

:)

In a way Argentina have flattered to deceive just like Brazil. I think they might be found out tomorrow

Could be, but for me they've been at least as impressive as Holland apart from the Spain match, but Spain turned out to be not quite what was expected. Holland are yet to come up against a properly good team, and although I think the same can be said about Argentina I think Belgium is significantly better than any of the teams Holland have come up against so far (again, with the possible exception of Spain that wasn't quite Spain).

Aguero is apparently back for the semi: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-for-crucial-world-cup-semifinal-9589331.html

Still fancy Argentina to win it myself.

All the sponsorship and hospitality money goes straight to FIFA. Tax free of course, one of their demands for the host nation. Brazil have to fund all the stadiums with their own money.
