Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

Yeah, there will be a sit down with Levy I imagine. If rumours are to be believed then there will be very little talking.

Did anyone see his interview with MOTD yesterday when they asked about the fan in his seat being in the running for his job? There was a flash across his face where he was angry but he composed himself to carry on smiling, giving the old 'happy-go-lucky' Tim schtick. Almost broke character at the final hurdle.

I pray he gets another premier league job to keep me entertained

His eyes always tell a different story to his words. He knows it, we know, Levy knows it. Bye Tim.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

Is he not playing in King's testimonial? Can imagine it will be after that

The Standard reported last week that Sherwood and Freund had been invited to play for Lesley's 11 but it had not been confirmed at that point.

Just because everyone else is a dingdong it doesn't make it OK.

Never read how you feel so against such comments when mentioned by other coaches and pros. Surpised you haven't started a thread on the subject before now. ;)

I think I have mentioned how ridiculous it is that English people want an English manager for their teams, it crops up from time to time.

That said, I don't hold pundits/other fans to the same standards as I do our managers -they have to be above all that. I know Shearer and Hansen are dingdongs, I've known it for a long time, and their opinions on English managers only help to confirm that. (Although Shearer does get some points back for wearing the same McQueen shirt as me on Sunday). I also know that Gary Lineker is too busy sucking BBC **** to know what he really thinks.

I don't expect a high-ranking staff member at Spurs (a club known for its acceptance of all nationalities over the years) to spout such xenophobic nonsense.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

I think its his attitude of shifting blame for things going wrong onto everyone bar himself and not taking any responsibility for anything coupled with rumours of other aspects of his personality and professionalism that did it for me with Sherwood.

When he got the job he said in the January transfer window the squad was good so he didn't need anyone. He actually said the chairman (Levy) had asked him "do you think we should strengthen?" but Sherwood said he turned the offer down.

After a couple of bad defeats then suddenly its "its a miracle if Spurs qualify for the CL with the players we've got", "we're technically inferior to Liverpool so there was nothing I could do but sit in the stands", "these players bought in the summer [when i was on the transfer committee] aren't good enough", "Sandro's not good enough", "Paulinho's not good enough", "Capoue's not good enough" etc etc

He changes what he thinks depending on whatever agenda he's feeding the media and its all played out in some kind of Sherwood circus with the journos and I'm sorry but whatever you think of his results, which have been decent, I just can't stand this jumped up **** using our great club as a stage to perform his "loveable rogue's gallery" act. That's it for me, and i'm glad to say I think that's it for Levy too.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

Did we not score 3 goals with AVB in charge?! I'm sure we did, unless Ive misunderstood the stat?
I think he means AVB didn't manage it 9 times in his 18 months.

The Standard reported last week that Sherwood and Freund had been invited to play for Lesley's 11 but it had not been confirmed at that point.
Getting the name of the King wrong = crime of the century, hang your head Milo ;)

I think that it is possible that he could turn down the chance to sign new players in January and still think that the squad had insufficient quality to finish in the top four.

He had not had long to work with the players before the window opened, let alone identify possible upgrades. It is also possible that he thought that it would be a bad idea to add more new players to a squad struggling to successfully incorporate our seven summer signings. I think that it is also possible that we thought there were not suitable players available in January.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

AVB always said 2-0 was the perfect result. No point expending unnecessary energy - better to turn the engine down and start preparing for the next match.

Pros and cons to that approach, but it explains the lack of dead rubber goals despite his strong win ratio.

And what if the league/4th place came down to goal difference and ours is only plus 7 whilst Arsenal's is plus 30?

Big wins breed confidence. You don't think Liverpool's big wins over us, Everton and Arsenal did anything for them?

Added to the fact that 2-0 is never a safe lead. If the other team get a goal, all of a sudden you're under the cosh. Typically dumb comment from AVB.

Funny how win ratios were the be all and end all, even above league positions when AVB was in charge. That's gone out the window now.

Probably the way I wrote it... Avbs teams scored 3 goals in the league 8 times in 18 months. Tim has bettered that in his half a season.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

AVB: some good results, dross football, over complicated negative tactics, alienated players

Sherwood: some good results, improved the tempo and attacking intent and indeed goals, tactically naive, and shocking at the back, alienated players.

I find it bizarre when people start using interview soundbites and what gillet Sherwood wears to pass judgement on managerial ability. There's never going to be a Spurs manager that is univerally adored, but it's strange when people can't see past their dislike for x manager and give them a shred of credit. Actually scratch that, I can believe it.

I'm not saying keep him because I think we need to get someone better, but one good thing he did was saying to Eriksen you're the man, not dingdonging around dropping him and playing Holtby.

This pretty much covers it all in a nut shell.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

We should though ensure that who we hire is as close as guaranteed to do better as is possible...or we will have another post harry, DVD\power point master, disaster on our hands. So in essence low risk high reward... And out of the available candidates, only one fits the bill......rafa , with anyone else we will potentially repeating the monumental fuc k up that sacking harry and appointing avb was.

Re: Tim Sherwood…not treated with the respect a headmaster is.

AVB:eek:ver complicated tactics

Whilst I understand that your opinion will always differ from mine in the rest of the opinion stuff in that post, I'd like to clarify this bit.

Where do you draw your line between tactics being too complicated and players being too stupid? I suspect that many Italian or Spanish players would have no problem in understanding more complicated tactics. Kyle Walker, not so much.

Do tactics have to be so simple that you can have a team of Kyle Walkers? Or is it a better solution to have a team of Alonsos and outfox the opposition with better tactics?

Are all Spanish and Italian footballer more intelligent than kyle walker then?

Is it the pasta that makes them so... Or the olive oil?
