I'd add a caption, but he's not worth it.

Lee Dixon summed it up perfectly on 92nd minute during co-commentary when the camera was back on him.

"There you go, Mr. No Show"

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Quite right. Its the manager's job to mould players into a team and to get them to play to his potential. If he cant do that, for whatever reason, he's not the right man

Look at Pulis. Wouldn't want him near our team but currently he has a bunch of far worse players playing far more like a team.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

In Vienna…I went by Freud's office afterwards and he said it was beyond his pay-grade, so once I've had some dinner I'll be seeking your collective help. Let's face it; the optimism and hope some of us held for Sherwood was as naive as our gut-feelings told us….well, I should simply speak for myself. I didn't like him, I forced myself to be reasonable and fair, and I think I have been at this point. Levy has to take blame too. Today was why I never complained much under AVB; at least you could see what he was trying to do long-term. Of course his balls were kicked by Levy, and he in turn showed an inability to fight through it (can't blame him given his inexperience)…Sherwood has not got one ounce of faith from this lot has he? Ramsey looked lost. It was like watching a **** West Ham today...

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

I really am amazed at how the players seem to be getting a pass, relatively speaking. They've been equally disappointung under both AVB and Sherwood. Emirates Marketing Project 6-0 Spurs under AVB, Spurs 1-5 Emirates Marketing Project under Sherwood. Spurs 0-5 Liverpool under AVB, Liverpool 4-0 under Sherwood. Spurs 0-3 West Ham under AVB, Chelsea 4-0 Spurs under Sherwood. AVB 27 points, Sherwood 29 points. These players just aren't up to it, they're good enough not to be getting ****ted regularly but they're not good enough to have us competing at the level we want/expect.

We have the quality of players:
Lloris - France regular and captain
Paulinho - Brazil regular
Soldado - scored bags of goals in Spain
Vertonghen - in the PL team of the season last year and regular international
Adebayor - proven top level PL CF
Eriksen - highly sought after young playmaker
Walker - has some rough edges but quick, big, strong and still young
Sandro - proven PL defensive midfielder and a real leader

You can build a decent team around those above. Add in a large number of players who are at least top half standard and we should be better than we are. That's the managers fault - he needs to gel players into a team. TS cannot do that

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Today's selection shows that TS is either supremely confident or a raving nutter hell bent on smashing this club to bits

As soon as I heard the team sheet on the radio, I decided to give the game a miss. Sigurdson, Chadli, Eriksen, Bentaleb? Quite how Tim stumbled on those 4 as a set of midfielders to win this game, GHod only knows. Sherwood made a good analogy the other day, he said managing is like repairing a washing machine with someone else's tool bag. What he forgot to add is that it helps if the guy doing the repair has been trained and has a ****ing clue what he is doing.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

That went well for him. This season has been a nightmare. Only Spurs could have gone from where we were to where we are.

Or Liverpool a few years back from competing for CL and that one season near the title with Benitez to going to Hodgson and daglish before finding Mr. Wright.

Hopefully we have had our Hodgson and Daglish.

Thanks for the optimism, which is much needed on this forum (and in life in general).

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

Liverpool were on the slide under FSW, he'd started buying a lot of crap

we've dropped like a stone in 12 months

it's almost as though players don't respond well to upheaval

be that nearly 30% of the squad being changed in one transfer window OR switching managers half way through the season OR having managers that chop and change line ups/tactics from game to game

Im not surprised in the slightest that the players haven't been able to perform at a consistent level this season

Paulinho and Soldado just don't cut it. Walker is alright sometimes, Sandro can't stay fit and Vertonghen doesn't gaf. Lloris, Eriksen and Ade are good enough, maybe a few others but generally it's a whole bunch of averageness. You say add in the others who are top half standard but then say we should be better than we are ... we're 6th in the table, just how much better do you think this lot should be doing? Unrealistic expectations by most regarding this squad, in fact I'm not quite sure how we're even 6th.

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

^ we're 6th because despite the total cluster**** of a management situation our players actually have some ability and have been able to scrap us through games by themselves. wait till they have someone in charge who knows what he's doing and things will look much better

Re: Tim Sherwood - Head Coach

The players' mental attitude was unacceptable today, and Sherwood needs to take some of the blame for that.

But the match stats are interesting:

Goals
4-0

Total Shots
11 - 15

Shots On Target
5 - 4

Shots from outside the box
6 - 8

Shots from inside the box
5 - 7

Shot Accuracy (excluding blocked shots)
45.5% - 40%

Total Passes
526 - 362

Passing Accuracy (%)
86.5% - 82.3%

Passing Accuracy opp. Half (%)
72.4% - 72%

Total Crosses
12 - 16

Successful Crosses (%)
25% - 31.3%

Fine margins, individual mistakes and everything going wrong that could go wrong explain a hell of a lot.

How had they been sliding? They went from 2nd one season to 7th the next. That is a far greater drop than anything we are likely to achieve this season.
