Christian Eriksen

I don't think we should focus on him and Dembele as our midfield combo. For me we need someone better than Dembele in there, which strangely enough means I feel we could do with purchasing another midfielder lol

Erik-sen-sen-sen...

He was very, very good tonight. In the second half, that is. Was ineffective from the left (why he's played there I'll never know) first half but came more central especially when we had an extra man and his quality shone through.

He's very frustrating though, cos he's so infuriatingly inconsistent, which is always more annoying when it's the case for talented players like him. I think he drifts in and out of games partly because he's young but also when he has his feathers ruffled in games by opponents. Even then however he can be useful for his set-piece ability.

The right man will know what to do with him. Toughen him up (mentally) and play him off the striker. Potentially a top class player if that's how it works out.

His game is far from flawless but on tonight's performance Eriksen has to play v. Cardiff. Even if it's only for his free kicks, he's currently the only mid who looks capable of making things happen.

Kid just turned 22 a couple of weeks ago. About the same age Modric was when he joined us for his first inconsistent season. Just saying. 8-[

Eriksen should be the first name on the team sheet as he is the one guy we have who is capable of picking the lock to a packed defence. He will flit in and out of games, but has the talent and ability to make a difference and must be persevered with. People forget that Modric was a bit hit and miss in his first season but Eriksen, whilst not as metronomic in his passing as Modric is, will chip in with more goals and assists. I'd play him centre mid with Sandro and or Paulinho, and drop Dembele altogether. Modric proved you don't have to be a muscular powerhouse to play central midfield if you are intelligent and can look after the ball.

I can't believe some of the stick he gets. He's just about our only creative player. The team play crap and he's usually the one who cops most of the flak and is benched for 3 games. Players like Lennon, Dembele and Sig for example are allowed about 10 bad games but Eriksen doesn't even get the luxury of one. I'm interested to see if the some of the posters being critical of his work rate defended Berbatov for walking around doing nothing when we were under the cosh.

hes not world class yet, he's got obvious strengths and weaknesses, like any young player.

i feel that he is somewhat a luxury player at the moment and would do well with a DM behind him. otherwise its panic stations everytime he looks like he's going to be bumped off the ball.

I can't believe he didn't play against Norwich, that game was screaming for him. He's no doubt our most creative player at the moment, and should definitely be one of the first on our team sheet against pretty much any type of opposition.

Even though he's a luxury player IMO we have to do whatever is needed to accommodate him, because he is literally the only player we have with any creative ability.

A luxury player is someone you give a free pass to(off the ball) as he's capable of doing something on the ball that other players can't, I don't see how that applies to Eriksen? He's always chasing and harrying defenders, sure he's not Sandro in the tackle but then that's not his specialist skill is it?

Yeah, I think the term luxury player is a disservice to him, as Rossi said, he's a hard worker, has been in every game I've seen him play

I don't know why players like him, VDV and Ozil are labelled as "luxury players". Would you rather have a team full of bruisers who can't create anything?

Yeh I suppose luxury player is the wrong term. What I mean by it in this instance is that he has to be forgiven for quiet periods during a game or even entire games because he can do things creatively that none of our other players can.

He did really well with no space the other night, needs to play in the hole behind Ade, not in the hole behind two no9s.

Eriksen is BY FAR the most creative player we have and should play every game, he also works incredibly hard. He needs to start every game he can! We'd have done infinitely better against norwich with him in the team...or coming off the bench... anything!

I think Eriksen has been our best signing of the season. He now has 5 goals and 5 assists from 25 matches in all competitions which is pretty decent. His only rival has been Paulinho who has 6 goals and 2 assists from 27 matches. But Eriksen is still young at 22. He can become a key player for us if we manage to keep him long term.
