Most overrated bands

I never said Arctic Monkeys were bad, far from it, they are just overhyped. Admittedly it's not their fault, it's the likes of NME.

The only Radiohead album I like is The Bends which is a very good album, much better than OK Computer.
 
Radiohead are fudging awesome, but it took me a while to realise that because it put me off slightly that everyone (that had an opinion about music that I respected) was telling me how fudging awesome they were, and sometimes that can put people off.

They're a strange band in that you could argue they are both over-rated and under-rated a lot of the time though.

i think i agree re; artic monkeys being overrated

i remember in the 6 months up to the release of the first album finding every torrent i could (and the stuff i torrented and put together is still better than actual album release) and couldnt stop listening to this fresh new sound and attitude

but they have become stale since that first (and in part 2nd) album

same for Kasbian - first album is almost Prodigy like, it picks you up, smacks you around the head, eats you and spits you out
the albums since have just been a water down dull parody of the original

i always say i repect Radiohead - the stuff after OK Computer doesnt really do much for me, but i can see what they are doing and where its merits are

just doesnt flick my switch
 
Coldplay - Dull, dull, dull. I just can't understand why anyone would want to buy one of their records. Dull!

Youth and Young Manhood is an absolute belter of an album
 
They're hardly a bastion of credibility, but the fact that Black Eyed Peas have made millions is nothing short of disgraceful.
 
Definitely have to have U2 as the most overrated; I can imagine that they would be good live BUT the reason for that is also part of their downfall. I think that U2 regularly release albums featuring 2 good songs and the rest are just fillers which are mostly brick. They have anthems like With or Without You etc which make them sound great on tour but really they are an overrated band based on the total content that they released.

I think Foo Fighters are awesome and would say they are my favourite rock band so no way would I say that they are overrated. I think their latest album Wasting Light is a return to their glory times, I do agree that they have had lean spells but they are still a fantastic band.

Other than that, I would have to list the likes of One Direction, JLS etc bands who survive only because teenage girls think that the members of the band are hot. There are too many other examples of this about, too much cheese pop. I also think that Lady Gaga is overrated too as I've yet to hear any of her songs that I've actually liked and weren't repetitive dirge.

Please don't call groups like that bands, bands play instruments.

U2 are still the best live band in the world, the 360 degree tour was simply superb. Plus they are brave enough to put tracks on their albums that aren't instant hits, but they are often the ones the fans end up liking the most.

Then the fact that they are known as a boy band, shows that they are even more overrated if they can't even fulfil the criteria of being a band.

I disagree - I saw them at Glastonbury last year and I thought Coldplay were much better. They're just a bunch of **** munchers - the whole 'I want to save the world' gonad*s by Bono is a load of rubbish, especially when I have first hand information proving otherwise.
 
I've not been taken with anything new for a long time, I mostly listen to foo fighters/high flying birds/the wildhearts, same as I was 15 years ago
