Gareth Bale

why would a player live 24/7 in Mayfair, a quiet boy at that. I'd imagine he has a few properties and he has a proper lads place near the training ground which is more homely. That Mayfair one was probably used when he had sponsorship dealings in central London to deal with, Or if his parents came up to stay. Its close to his agent's too. 5 min walk.

Because Mayfair's the nice bit of London.

He definitely didn't live there 24/7 (I very much doubt he owned it). I have been to his house (and his neighbours) and he lived with his girlfriend in Chigwell (Repton park just around the corner from Walkers flat).. I would guess that this was an joint investment property with his agents they have decided to move it on and using his name for the last time..

Still wouldn't get me living there. Especially with a commute drive from there every day.. sod that. Its the sort of place as I said, you put friends and family when they come to London, which explains the basic look

he didnt. Its just one of his property investments

Bbc reporting that Madrid are saying they paid 76m and not the 85m we are claiming, which would still mean Ronaldo is the highest transfer fee at 80m (all figures in Gbp)!

Until recently I'd have agreed with you but all the oil money that's now around there has lowered the tone. Still where I stay/eat/club when I come back to London though.

but that isn't what Steff said at all?

he said at first Bale was definitely staying and there was absolutely no way he was leaving. He then said his agent started acting up and convinced Bale to act like a ****....that article just confirms that bale wanted to move and put pressure on us for the move to go through.

is there a link to this i must have missed it?

Gareth joined from Southampton in May 2007 and during his six years with the Club made 203 appearances, scoring 55 goals

Chairman, Daniel Levy commented, "Gareth was a player we had absolutely no intention of selling as we look to build for the future. He is a player whose career we have fostered and developed and he was only a year into his new four year contract.

"Such has been the attention from Real Madrid and so great is Gareth's desire to join them, that we have taken the view that the player will not be sufficiently committed to our campaign in the current season.

"We have, therefore, with great reluctance, agreed to this sale and do so in the knowledge that we have an exceptionally strong squad to which we have added no fewer than seven top internationals. More importantly, we have an immense team spirit and a dressing room that is hungry for success.

"We wish Gareth all the best in the future and he shall always be welcome at the Lane."
