***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS swansea OFFICIAL OMT**********

Two great performers on the 'wings' at the moment.

Would consider it madness if Townsend didn't start on the right and Chadli didn't start on the left.

Townsend just has to start ahead of Lennon for this. Nothing against Lennon who has his uses but Townsend was absolutely class on Thursday, he looked the best player in the team. You don't drop him after a performance like that.

Did you know that Spurs were the first club to field three Belgian players in a Premier League match when Vertonghen, Dembele & Chadli lined-up against Crystal Palace.

Good to know we are making use of Belgium's newly-found talent pool. We seem to have atleast 1 player from almost all the major football nations. But it is a pity we still don't have any players from Argentina, Portugal, Holland and Italy.

I'd like to see this team too

This being our first home match of the season, we need a good performance against Swansea. We did well to beat Palace last week but it was not really convincing. We surely need to improve our performance from that. Our performance against Dinamo Tbilisi was much better and we need that sort of performance here. But this is going to be difficult after playing against Tbilisi on Friday. Hope those who playeed against Tbilisi like Soldado and Paulinho won't be affected by tiredness.

Swansea will be tough but we need a convincing win somehow. Soldado has done well to score 3 goals in 2 matches for us. Hope he will continue his goal run. There is huge expectations on him everytime due to his price tag. But Swansea at home is the sort of games he should be scoring in. Hope we will get goals from somewhere else as well to relieve the pressure on Soldado. Was surprised to see Defoe not playing against Tbilisi. Is Defoe injured or out of favour now ? Wish Defoe is avaibale for this match as he can come on to help out attacks late in the match.

Nice to see our midfield contributing goals against Tbilisi. It was really sweet to see Paulinho and Townsend scoring the goals. We really lacked enough goals from midfield last season. Hope the likes of Paulinho, Dembele, Sandro, Sigurdsson and Lennon will score more goals this season. Townsend has been in fine form from the pre-season. Won't mind if he starts ahead of Lennon in this match. I think Lennon annoyed many people with his inability to make a good cross against Palace. I think Townsend will provide more creativity for our attacks than Lennon.

Our defence have done well to keep 2 clean sheets in a row so far this season. Being at home, will be disappointed if we can't stop Swansea scoring in this match. Our lack of clean sheets ultimately affected our chance to finish in top 4 last season. Hope we won't do the same mistake this season. We need to be ruthless in defence and avoid any moment of madness. Hope Walker and Rose will avoid any silly mistakes. Hope Lloris will do his best to extend the clean sheet run.

Hope we will put up a good performance and get a convincing win. Since we are playing Arsenal next week, we need to go into that match with winning mood. Swansea at home is the sort of matches we should be winning if we want to achieve anything this season. Hope the team will turn up with a ruthless mentality to beat Swansea.

Townsend simply has to start. Will be a real kick in the teeth if AVB doesnt pick him. Scary thing is I dont think he will.

Realy looking forward to this game, got to put a good peformance in. Cant wait.

Any official team news yet ? Wish we can play our best 11 for once, with all our injured players returning. Also wish we can play Bale once before he goes to Real Madrid.

Feel a bit nervous about this match. Hope we will use our home advantage to get a convincing win.

Happy enough for Lennon to start and for Townsend to come on later or the other way around or whatever other combination those that know the relative behind the scenes info wish to make

That for me would send out the absolute wrong message. After such a good performance mid week, Townsend must start. Players must be rewarded for good performances or it will be like Harry all over again.

Couldn't agree more. But my emphasis would be on the 's' at the end of "performances". I don't think the manager should be chopping and changing his first eleven based on a single good performance from a player. If Defoe comes off the bench and scores a winning goal, do we immediately drop Soldado? If Friedel has a great game in the League Cup, should Lloris find himself relegated to backup goalkeeper instantly?

Personally I don't think so. I think AVB has to take into account multiple factors... relative fitness and tiredness, the particular opposition, how the players are performing in training... along with match form across several matches. Townsend's quality against Dinamo Tbilisi should definitely move him a notch closer to that starting spot. And based on the other factors, it may already have moved him to the top of AVB's list. But if he doesn't start today it doesn't mean that AVB is playing favourites like Harry. It just means that he's on the way to forcing himself into the first team, but hasn't quite made it yet.

Agreed.

Being on the bench for todays game shouldn't make Townsend unhappy or upset. In fact it's a step up considering he wasn't even on the bench against Palace. He is almost certain to get on as well if he is on the bench. He came off the bench a few times for us last season in the Premier League too.

why would you want to see the river when the boat isn't ready for another 2 hours and 20 minutes?
