Willian

Not surprised if we end up paying for Willian fairly quickly. There was a lot of interest in him and the Anzhi owner was reportedly very interested in recouping some of his outlay quickly. Would have been difficult for Levy to get one of his Levy-specials in there with Liverpool and possibly others competing over his signature as Anzhi could have just told us to match their payment structure or get out.

Also a very real chance that we've been in a bit of a hurry with this deal and the Lamela deal if the Bale to Real deal is as close as it's being reported. Would also have made Levy's negotiating position weaker and made it more difficult to get a more Spurs-typical payment structure.

I find everything to do with window so far hard to believe. We've been like a kid in a candy shop. Just hope it all works out well by 2nd Sept.

I know what you mean, and like most posters here I agree that Lemela and Willian would complete the set if/ when Bale goes....

we can sort out the defence next window if we have the cash but Sandro and KaBOOM are like new players at the moment

and what ever way we look at it, we are weaker on and off the pitch with what a player like Bale brings! I just feel prviledged I was at THAT Inter game at the lane... unreal!

Levy has gone nuts this summer...who knows whats happening

nuts is the word!! I suppose £80m+ for bale, £30m+ TV money we never had before and whatever money was already in the bank and other player sales could potential be a total of £200m....

double the value of our squad in one window, and some....

amazing times to be a fan....

although like I just said in reply to another post... losing Bale is a blow both on and off the pitch what ever happens... Lemela and Willian if we pull that off just soften the blow

Anzhi owner Suleyman Kerimov lost around 400m recently and needs whatever money he can get his hands on now. Lewis and Levy know this and thats probably why we're beating Liverpool to this transfer.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has appeared to end his interest in Anzhi Makhachkala playmaker Willian, who is believed to be poised to sign for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Merseyside outfit were interested in poaching the Brazilian from the Russian club, who are willing to offload a number of their stars in order to cut costs.

The 25-year-old is believed to be in talks with Spurs over signing a five-year deal in a club-record £30m fee, but reports have emerged stating that Willian is still considering his options.

Rodgers said in a press conference: "It's one where if we can't get them in, we just have to move on. We've got 11 days to go, we have to do everything we possibly can. If you can't get the player that you want, there's always that initial disappointment, but you can't dwell on it."
