Etienne Capoue

I mentioned this in another thread. I work with a French guy who follows Toulouse. It is pronounced cap-ooh-ay. Not cap poo like sky keep saying. They can't even pronounce Jose's name right after all these years. They still say hosay like the Spanish. Its Jose with the J pronounced like in English. As in Jo say.

Weird...... I live in Toulouse now, and have several friends who support TFC here (though its decidedly a rugby town) and they all call him Capoo.

Oftentimes it comes down to the language though because for instance, my name is Will but when I moved over here I started getting people calling me Weeell. My last name gets butchered pretty bad too. It's just that the letters making up my name make a completely different sound in French than they do in English. Simples. Not trying to say your friend is wrong, but, in this case, he's not exactly 100% accurate... :tumbleweed:

Really happy with this signing, seems highly rated. Good age and mix of skills and sounds like we only paid 8/9m which is cheap these days.

I should be really happy, but since we already have a monster midfield, plus I've been checking this site every 3 hours for 3 weeks for this very bloody thread to appear... I'm not whelmed either under or over.

All I really care about now is Bale staying, or Bale going now so we have time to spend the money. Knowing Spurs it will be "Bale going in the last 4 minutes of the window" and we end up with Boris Johnson as a replacement

We could do worse................Boris and Sandro????

Excited by this guy. He has 'that' physique - big strong but rangy. He's good at distributing the ball with quick accurate passes and uses his physicality to get between opposition players and the ball.

Dare I say it, Capoue reminded me a bit of Vieira. Havn't seen him dribbling as Viera did, but you'd think he might have potential to drive into space. Check this vid, by a goon :) Could it be sweeter?

Imagine if we are beating Chelsea/Man U/Arsenal 2-0 and we can then shield our defence with Sandro and Capoue. The opposition wouldn't stand a chance of scoring.

Yes, regional accents. Like Geordies and Scousers and Yorkshiremen all trying to say something intelligent - it's just not gonna happen.

Really i should report this thread as offensive because it is and it is my job to stop these things.

But i found it to funny so i gave it karma instead.

Agree with the strong and rangy observation. Looks very balanced as well with a gear shift when needed. As the video says, good at holding when 1 of the CH wants to go a wandering (can see kaboom and verts loving this). Also loves a quick forward pass
to feet rather than the sideways borefest we sometimes employ. Could be a squad player, could be a starter.....very good addition imo

Nice to have the option. Caulker was just a reserve CB and for the same money we potentially have more options.

Absolute beast, and for someone that could also play centre back I was expecting him to be more one dimensional in terms of ability with the ball. But he's good with the ball, he's athletic, composed, hard working. Fantastic signing. Why were Arsenal not in for him??

great little cameo. Looking forward to much more from this guy. Potential new fan favourite

you could say that about many good players

Quite impressive with his ball distribution . Make it short and simple if it needs but when there is time , he can pass the ball forward neatly . Looks comfortable on switching flank too . Quick thinking and good decision despite its only against crystal palace . Really helpful when we need to keep possession.

Yes but from the looks of it, he looks like the exact kind of player that they so desperately need. I was very impressed with him today. Whoscored.com have him down for 6 interceptions, that's very impressive considering he was only on for 30 minutes. Loved his agile movement and aggression as well.

Haven't seen much of him before and there was lots of really mixed reviews about him. Some saying he was really good and others saying he was a mediocre/average signing. Only 1st game but looked impressive. You could tell he was strong defensively but also looked for the forward pass too. I'm not expecting a hugely creative player but good to know that he has something in his locker.
