*** Official 'Why is there no Lyon OMT?' OMT ***

Didn't read the thread until after the game. Some of the jokers that posted on it should hang their heads in shame.

Talk about knee-jerk.

Stick to your playstations fellas.

It's an OMT.

It's full of knee jerk and passion.

I wouldn't take anything said in here entirely seriously during a match.

Knee jerk, yes. Passion? Not so much. It's something about the modern fan mentality. Focus entirely on the negatives and blow them completely out of proportion.

There are issues but he has found a way to overcome them. They need serious addressing in the summer. Two new strikers would be superb.

Wow - so even you admit that ade needs replacing! He had an appalling first half, played a bit better in the second, but looks a million miles away from scoring a goal. He is supposed to be a 25m pound striker and just isnt leading the line like one.

fantastic result. Over the moon with the goal (why doesnt dembele do this more often with Parker sitting - especially against a team that parks the bus. He should be dribbling at them on the edge of the penalty area not from sooooo deep.

Thank you, I take my fair share of responsibility for this tonight! I'm pretty certain I said I don't want to see Walker in a spurs shirt again, Dembele, Parker, Ekotto were brick.

Upon reflection, I still think these things!

I very much agree with you on Walker. He never learns, does he?

What we lack in moving the ball quickly we have got back in being more solid which imo gives us the opportunity to get the crucial late goals. The problem today was not imo about a system failing but too many players performing below par.

Its hard to separate the players from the system though, if one or two underperformed you could blame them but we never really got going at all and looked like going out with a whimper until Dembele scored. On one hand I am happy as we go through for another great game v Inter but you cant ignore the current problems as we have difficult games coming up.

Walker was by no means the worse player tonight in fact far from it. But why let that get in the way of a good spacegoat

I have to say Lyon got exactly what they deserved. It was a cowardly performance by them, especially being the home team.

I thought we improved immeasurably in the 2nd half and deserved to win that match. Plenty of room for improvement but well done lads.

Ha ha, shows what I know... I wanted Dembele off, Lennon to stay right, Siggy to come on and play 3 at the back.

Credit again to AVB, that is some mentality we'e building.

One defeat in 14 apparently and a glamour tie come up. Should be buzz about the place now.

Let's hope city can do us a favour over the weekend and we can capitalise on Monday.

Coys.

me too, or shot, how many times did he pass the ball straight to the opposition

I actually thought walker had a decent game, had some ridiculous decisions against him tonight

I agree but he showed inexperience, whereas BAE with plenty of it stank in defence and going forward was given the ball in acres of space and was showing off instead of trying to get in crosses when there were 5 or 6 of our guys in the area.

I have to agree with you Rob. Walker had a decent 2nd half and was far better than some of the Spurs players out there. I'd even argue that some of the 'silly fouls' were no more than gamesmanship from Lyon. He wasn't man of the match or anything but was a solid 6 for me.

Can't stop watching the goal. One thing I've noticed though is how all of our players go nuts except for Ade who's thinking "Ahh brick, more games to play now".

Yes, just spotted that again on the replay. Hopefully we're not reading too much into it,but he really didnt look bothered did he?

I have to say I dont watch the French league but I expected some flair, passion and style from them but they looked every bit a bottom 10 prem/championship side with how they played. Seriously, I felt embarressed for them with the pre-match CL team build up. It worked though as we were made to look average aswell but for a moment of class again.

Walkers clumsiness is on the verge of being indefensible now. His lack of discipline is simply costing us too many goals. Big fan of Ekotto but even he since his return has looked very susceptible to errors and these are the things that are both avoidable and should be unacceptable

In fairness Leandro, which having watched him now we had a lucky escape, was a cheat for many of those fouls and just threw himself to the ground. BAE was ok in defense but in attack he was dreadful.

Not sure what you mean, we played a very average game in both legs but overall we had 3 moments of class to win this tie. But lets be honest we scraped through, there is no shame in admitting that as much as there is no shame in admitting our own failings. No point in denying the obvious and hiding behind the win.
