*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton ***

Does anyone really know enough about the finances of the club to be able to say we should just spend, spend, spend?

Well we seemed to have the money to get Moutinho, but we ultimately didn't get him. I'm not talking about spending £100m so calm down. Why is it whenever anyone questions Levy on the financial side of things, you always seem to get the "we'll do a Leeds" arguement if we spend ANY money?

I was merely commenting on the injury situation. I'm not concerned that we didn't play too well against Liverpool, we won, that's all that matters. The late goals is the biggest thing that concerns me.

I realise we have a history of conceeding late goals, so it's not entirely AVB's fault, but it's still something that needs addressing.

I'm still in the jury is out camp. I'll judge him at the end of the season. But as I keep saying, Levy MUST back him in January, because he didn't do it sufficiently enough in the last window.

I agree with the late goal point, it is frustrating and has happened pretty regularly this season. I'm not sure the subs today were the problem and as i've said think the goals, first especially can be put down to individual mistakes from players who were on from the start and up until the 88th minute had done pretty well. We deserved something from todays game not that that means much right now.

I would hope that we do reinforce in January. With teams like Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool having average seasons again with a couple of wins in the next matches we really could put ourselves in the position where we can really go for a champions league place at the end of the season. I'm not convinced Levy will open the purse strings given how things have gone in recent history, i fear he might think that with some of our injured players coming back that will be enough for AVB.

That so many on here seem content to lose to Everton is beyond me. I thought our approach to this game was awful.
See my earlier posts, I can't be arsed to say it all again!

No one is content.

MAYBE Spurs just aren't that good, has that thought crossed your mind yet?

I just keep seeing people saying that AVB has to be backed, but how much can we realistically expect? Maybe signing Moutinho would have had a major impact on future transfer funds? In Harry's first window we spent a lot. Some of it was absolutely necessary at the time, but the money came out of future transfer kitties. Our wages have gone up considerably in recent years and not just from CL bonuses. That money must come from somewhere and it most likely means less money left over for transfer fees.

Was out and about most of today and got back to being able to access the radio just before 6, when Collymore on Talksport wanted to hear from Spurs fans and their thoughts on the number of times we've thrown points away late in the game. He didn't say the final score and only when I got home and turned on the internet that I read we actually LOST; I'd assumed we had dropped two points and not THREE!!

I've even read that the two goals were 88 seconds apart; is that for real????

Sorry, but there comes a point when excuses start ti run a bit thin.

I see a few things on this page and previous when people have stated that it was because of AVB's subs. Can someone please outline whether this is true? Would appreciate detailed comments for and against.

At this rate we have to believe this will likely continue into the new year; 6th/7th beckons most likely at this rate....

Not the subs. We were playing very well after going 1 up. Stupidly didn't deal with clearing it for their first goal. Then just fudged up for second. Individual errors.

AVB done well

But what about the CL and premier league prize money? Where's that gone? Not on players that for sure.

Thanks for that; that's somewhat 'comforting' I guess.

Which individuals dare I ask..?8-[

People feel the need to blame something, so they blame subs who had nothing to do with the defence fudging up.
If AVB had of left the same 11 on the pitch for 90 minutes they would be blaming him for leaving tired players on the pitch.

Can I also ask; were Everton all that? I'd tipped them for 4th after the end of August, but from what was seen todat are they really likely to challenge?

Of course, if we don't get 4th, I'd rather they did instead of L'Arse.

Oh yeah, and a question to those that moaned after the City away game that we should be going 4-4-2 at tough away grounds like that (and Goodison I might add): how did you think we used the 4-4-2 thing today? Just curious to get your thoughts (in particular IndianSpurs)

When we don't sub the players, or do it late, people complain. When we do make subs at a reasonable time in the game, people complain.

That's a fair point; however, I guess it's understandable as that is a common correlation (i.e. we lose the points AFTER the subs).
Perhaps we should balance those kinds of sentiments by stating the times when subs have GAINED us some points...

One way or another, these lates goals to throw away points have to stop otherwise we will be nowwhere near 4th spot by March

Depends what the subs are, bring inexperienced players like Falque on in that situation is never a good idea. Didn't think we needed to make a sub, Dembele maybe a bit leggy but he can still move the ball better than anything we had on the bench.
